Existence Grounding

From The Codex
Jump to navigationJump to search

Nanashi and Flynn's party's observations of YHVH brought him down to a lower level of existence

Background

Existence Grounding is the ability to descend, limit, or restrict the existential scope of others, bringing them down to a localized or simplified state of being. This allows the user to confine beings that exist on multiple planes, timelines, or dimensions to a single point or level of reality. It is especially effective against omnipresent, omniscient, higher hierarchy, extra-planar, or higher dimensional entities, forcibly grounding them to the user's frame of reference. Users may achieve this through observational effects, reality anchoring, conceptual imposition, or metaphysical dominance.

Also Called

  • Existence Reduction
  • Existential Confinement
  • Reality Grounding
  • Ontological Suppression

Possible Applications

  • Observation: Altering how a target exists or manifests by observing and interpreting them in a limited framework.
  • Power Nullification: Weakening or removing supernatural abilities by restricting the subject's state of existence.
  • Sealing / BFR: Imposing limitations on a target's existence so that they are confined to a single space, dimension, or temporal location.
  • Statistics Reduction: Greatly weakening a being's capabilities by collapsing their higher traits to a grounded baseline.
  • Reality Anchoring: Fixing oneself or others to a grounded reality to resist beings or effects that transcend conventional existence.
  • Conceptual Limitation: Preventing the target from functioning as a concept, deity, or universal force by binding them to a single, limited interpretation.

Practical Uses

  • Neutralizing higher-dimensional or divine opponents by collapsing their presence into a single time-space location.
  • Defending against omnipresent entities by anchoring them to one location or perspective.
  • Imposing limits on beings with unbounded potential or infinite spread.
  • Allowing users to fight on equal terms with metaphysical, abstract, or higher-realm foes.

Potential Types

  • Localized Grounding: Forces an omnipresent or multi-locational entity to exist in just one location.
  • Dimensional Grounding: Reduces higher-dimensional beings to lower-dimensional forms.
  • Ontological Grounding: Forces entities that exist on conceptual or metaphysical planes to operate under physical rules.
  • Relative Grounding: Brings targets down to the user’s own level of existence, regardless of their original hierarchy.

Possible Limitations

  • May not affect beings truly outside of reality or immune to existential manipulation.
  • Might require observation, interaction, or proximity to initiate grounding.
  • Targets with strong existential anchoring or reality resistance may be difficult to affect.
  • The user could suffer backlash or instability when grounding extremely powerful entities.
