Background
Instinct, also occasionally referred to as the Sixth Sense by some, is an extrasensory power all characters within the Kill the Past universe possess. This instinct is what allows killers to recognize each other and get a read of the kind of past they've experienced. Though some characters have greater bloodlust than others, it is a universal concept that is quietly integrated within Suda51's games.
A common trope within the Suda51 series is characters constantly having to face and "kill the past" which is what brings upon the need of an instinct for killing, since killing one's past is a task that requires the willpower and grit to overpower trauma and hardships that haunt various people. Some characters kill the past, while others allow it to rule their lives, further defining their instinct within the universe.
General Abilities
- Enhanced Senses & Extrasensory Perception: A killer's Instinct acts as a "sixth sense", allowing them to sense the presence of other foes. They can also sense the "bloodlust" of assassins and their emotional state. This instinct can furthermore sense and communicate with metaphysical beings who aren't even in the mortal plane.
- Clairvoyance and Radar Sensing: Instinct can sense the presence of multiple foes across the nearby location; Almost like a radar map, thus allowing them to easily determine the amount of foes in an area.
- Precognition: Premonitions; Assassins with a strong sixth sense can read scenarios to nigh-perfectly predict how a fight or interaction will initiate. Analytical Prediction; Even when assassins are at a complete disadvantage, their bodies will guide themselves to react to attacks before they've even reached them.
- Autopilot: Assassins can fight without even engaging their own brains and can move simply to the rhythm of combat itself, allowing them to block attacks from any angle. This can even prevent them from killing those that are actually connected to them in some manner.
- Sheer Will and Supernatural Resilience: One's instinct allows them to prevail in combat even after taking fatal damage, so much so that as long as they're determined, they'll only die until they allow themselves to.
- Regeneration: Low-Mid normally; Characters with enough grit can regenerate major organ penetration and even their whole hearts over enough time. Mid through connecting their body; Killers with great determination can reattach their severed head and continue fighting until they're decapitated once again.
- Power Manifestation and Law Manipulation: The Killer's Instinct allows characters to manifest their own powers mid-battle to help them excel in combat, which grow more potent depending on their ki. These powers can alter the rules of reality to fit how the character wants to fight.
- Intimidation and Fear Inducement: Due to a killer instinct's overwhelming presence, they can instill fear into people via their sheer instinct or appearance alone, causing them to run in fear or remain frozen in place.
- Aura: Killers have a powerful aura around them that gets stronger the more aggressive they get. This aura is what other killers sense when engaging in combat.
General Resistances
- Intimidation and Fear Inducement: The Killer's instinct allows the user to turn off their brains and fight off pure instinct, therefore preventing the overwhelming energy of others from affecting them.
- High Pain Tolerance: The bloodlust allows people to fight on without acknowledging the pain in which their body is undergoing until they die of sheer blood loss or bodily failure.
Law Manipulation and Power Nullification: The sixth sense allows fighters to dispel and break out of abilities that alter the rules of combat.
