Mechanization
Background
Mechanization (also referred to as Robotization) is the ability to transform living beings into robots, stripping them of organic traits and replacing them with mechanical components, typically resulting in the complete loss of biological functions. This process can be either partial or total, and is often used by antagonists or machine-based entities to assimilate or control others. Unlike Cyborgization, which retains a mix of organic and technological components, robotization results in the full conversion of the target into a purely mechanical being. This transformation can vary in degree and method, with some retaining aspects of their consciousness while others are entirely reprogrammed.
Also Called
- Robotization
- Mechanical Conversion
- Automated Transformation
- Full Mechanization
Possible Applications
- Eliminating organic vulnerabilities such as aging, hunger, or disease.
- Creating mechanical lifeforms for labor, warfare, or population control.
- Preserving or replicating consciousness in machine form.
- Producing mass armies or drones from organic life.
- Enhancing durability and efficiency beyond biological limits.
Practical Uses
- Used by governments or alien forces to mass-convert populations into soldiers.
- Voluntary transformation by individuals seeking physical or mental upgrades.
- Utilized in post-apocalyptic settings to ensure survival in inhospitable environments.
- Applies to digital backups of minds implanted into robot bodies.
Variations
- Self-Mechanization: The transformation is initiated voluntarily, often in pursuit of power, longevity, or survival.
- Forced Mechanization: The transformation is imposed against the subject’s will, commonly used as a form of control, punishment, or mass conversion by antagonistic forces.
Potential Types
- Partial Mechanization: Only certain parts of the body are converted to machinery. This can include limbs, internal organs, or other sections, leaving some organic components intact.
- Intermediate Mechanization: A balanced fusion where most vital functions are replaced with mechanical systems, but fragments of the original organic body remain.
- Total Mechanization: The entire physical form is replaced with mechanical components, with the original body completely gone. Consciousness may be preserved via digital means, or replaced entirely with programming.
Possible Limitations
- May result in loss of identity or autonomy if consciousness is replaced or overridden.
- Mechanical bodies can be vulnerable to hacking, EMPs, or system failures.
- Loss of organic sensations or emotions may lead to psychological instability or detachment.
- Maintenance is required to prevent degradation or malfunctions.
