“ | The study of magic began when the first mage taught herself how to throw lightning. The second mage learned how to dissipate the blast of lighting. Threat and response: thus did the study of magic progress. | „ |

Background
Story
The story revolves around beings known as Planeswalkers. One in a million people are born with a Planeswalker spark, and it is even rarer for it to ignite. However, due to the infinite size of the multiverse, Planeswalkers are vast in number.
All Planeswalkers have the ability to use magic and "planeswalk", which is an ability used to travel through different planes. They used to be god-like entities, until the Mending happened due to the amount of temporal rifts there were in the multiverse. The Mending healed the multiverse, but changed the spark forever, greatly weakening the planeswalkers. That is the in-verse explanation, while the out-of-verse explanation is WotC finds it hard to make stories revolving around god-like entities.
A certain number of Planeswalkers created a group known as "The Gatewatch", which seeks to end evil in the multiverse and bring peace to all. The original members are Gideon Jura, Chandra Nalaar, Nissa Revane, and Jace Beleren, with more joining in along the story, such as Liliana Vess or Teferi
Gameplay
Magic: the Gathering is an iconic card game made by the company Wizards of the Coast in 1993. It is a fantasy card game, involving spells, goblins, dragons, lightning, merfolk, elves, etc. It is a 2+ player game that is turn based, involving different "steps" such as "Untap", Combat, End-Step, etc.
There are four primary rarity ratings for cards, determined by the color of the symbol on the mid-right side of the card. The four ratings are: Common (Black), Uncommon (Silver), Rare (Gold), and Mythic (Orange)
There are also many formats, most of which contain 60 cards, allowing up to 4 copies of the same "nonbasic land cards" to be used in it.
- Standard plays with the more recent cards.
- Pioneer plays with the cards printed with and after the Return to Ravnica block
- Modern plays with more range of cards, but printed after a certain date.
- Legacy plays with most cards, barring the ones that are banned in the format.
- Vintage plays with almost all the cards, but some are restricted to one of each (I.E, Black Lotus).
- Pauper plays with common cards only
- Commander is a more unique format compared to the others. Instead of having 60 cards, it has 100, including one "commander" that is a legendary creature or a planeswalker that says it can be your commander. The deck's color identity is based on their commander. The commander resides in the command zone, being able to being able to cast from there by their original cost + 2 more mana for each time they have been cast from there.
Powers of the Verse
Magic: the Gathering is a rather impressive verse in terms of power. Prior to the Mending, Planeswalkers at a minimum were Universe level+ with a massive array of spells, and being immortal and hard to kill. After the Mending however, a lot of them were weakened, varying from Athlete level to Island level physically, but having spells that can ignore durability and/or are stronger than their physicals.
There are also extra-planar entities that remained extremely powerful regardless of the Mending, such as The Eldrazi or the Ur-Dragon. The most powerful being in the multiverse is ultimately you
In terms of AP, the verse caps out at Complex Multiverse level. In terms of hax, it has a vast amount of it, including Mind Manipulation, Dimensional Travel, Abstract Existence, Time Manipulation, Fire Manipulation, Death Manipulation, Reality Warping, etc.
Explanations
Why the cosmology of MtG is 6-7 Dimensional
Verse Scaling
Weaker characters at the very least scale to Eternals, who not only are skilled warriors from the best of the best from Amonkhet, but they can also punch through walls. While using Magic, they can go up to Building level+, Large Town level, Island level, and many other ratings throughout Tiers 9-6
Calculations
Polukranos destroys a polis, which is the combined size of Akros and Meletis, Theros's two largest city - Island level
Akroans overpower a giant - Small Building level
