Evolution

From The Codex
(Redirected from Reactive Evolution)
Jump to navigationJump to search

Pokemon can evolve into new types and species entirely, gaining new powers, strengths, and abilities, along with new typings at times.

Background

Evolution is the development of something from a simple to a more complex form, in history we see evolution through the human species evolving from primates. While evolution in real life takes millions of years, in fiction evolution can normally be fast and happen instantaneously depending on the user. Upgrading can lead to new physical changes and enhancements or perhaps extra parts, natural armor, or weapons, along with learning new abilities in the process and having new weaknesses. While Evolution is similar to Adaptation, evolution is specifically the process of change in a population over time through the passage of mutated genes while adaptation is a reaction to a specific environment and change in a specific individual.

Applications

  • Standard: The standard type of evolution, a process that takes around one million years.
  • Reactive: The type seen more in fiction where a character will evolve quickly or instantaneously.

Users

  • Characters from (Pokémon): Pokémon are famously known for evolving once certain conditions are met, turning into a new being with either changed or added types, new abilities, and new techniques to use.
