Introduction
True Sight is the ability to see things as they truly are, bypassing illusions, concealments, and deceptions. Users with True Sight can perceive the true form or essence of people, objects, and situations, revealing what is normally hidden. It can be applied to see through illusions, detect invisible entities, or even discern a person’s intentions or emotions. True Sight is a sub-ability of Truth Manipulation, granting the user the ability to perceive reality and the true nature of all things, often ignoring the constraints of physical perception.
Possible Applications
- Illusion Detection: The ability to see through magical or physical illusions, revealing what is truly there.
- Invisibility Detection: The ability to see invisible beings or objects, exposing them regardless of magical concealment.
- True Form Perception: Users can see the true form or nature of creatures, including their inner essence or hidden traits.
- Emotional Perception: The ability to detect the emotional state or intentions of others by seeing beyond surface appearances.
- Hidden Object Detection: The ability to reveal hidden items or locations, such as secret doors or treasure.
- Mental Perception: In some cases, True Sight may grant the ability to perceive someone’s thoughts or state of mind, exposing their true feelings or thoughts regardless of external disguise.
- Danger Sense: True Sight can sometimes be used to detect hidden dangers or traps, such as seeing the future consequences of a particular action or revealing hazards that cannot be perceived through ordinary senses.
Types
- Basic True Sight: The user can see through common illusions, such as invisibility spells or shape-shifting magic. It does not grant a full understanding of the true nature of things but can reveal physical deception.
- Enhanced True Sight: The user can perceive the hidden truths of both the physical and metaphysical world. This could include seeing through all magical illusions, revealing hidden emotions, or detecting concealed traps and threats.
- Divine True Sight: A more powerful form of True Sight often granted by divine or sacred sources. It allows users to see not only through illusions but also into the hearts and minds of others, sometimes even discerning their deepest secrets and desires.
- Object-Based True Sight: Some objects or artifacts, such as the Lens of Truth or Holy Glasses, may grant the wearer temporary or specific access to True Sight, revealing hidden objects, locations, or beings.
Limitations
- Focus Requirement: True Sight may require significant focus to use, especially if it is used to detect non-physical things like emotions or intentions.
- Limited Range: The range of True Sight might be limited, requiring the user to be within a specific distance of their target or having a limited field of vision.
- Selective Perception: Some forms of True Sight may be selective in what they reveal, such as only showing physical illusions or not being able to discern the true nature of emotions or thoughts.
- Resistance: Certain beings or entities may possess resistance to True Sight, either through their own illusions, magic, or protections, making it difficult or impossible for the user to perceive them clearly.
