This is because the foundation for the scaling comes from Destiny 1, where the canon was directed by around ten separate writers. Background
Shovel Knight is a platformer series created by Yacht Club Games and released on numerous devices in 2014. It has seen many developments and sequels, with its titular character appearing in many big and small games. The series was created as a tribute to older titles found on the NES and SNES, with future installments seeing an upgrade in quality.
The story is that long ago, the lands were untamed and roamed by wandering adventurers. An ancient artifact called the Phase Locket, which has power over life and death, is sought out by two such wanderers: Donovan and Shield Knight. After a battle over the gem, Shield Knight accidentally absorbs its evil powers, becoming the tenebrous Enchantress, with Donovan dead. She resurrects him as Specter Knight under the promise he will serve her and seek out others Knights and recruit them into her Order of No Quarter.
After various Knights have been recruited and conquer various areas in the land, there remain very few refuges left for peaceful townspeople. As the Enchantress plans to release one final attack to end the job, a new hero emerges from the dark, the titular protagonist Shovel Knight. It is up to him to defeat the Enchantress, stopping the Knights and saving the people, while also bringing back his long lost friend, Shield Knight.
Power of the Verse
Explanations (Optional)
- This section should explain how the power structure, and cosmology, of the verse fundamentally works, especially for its high-end beings.
- It can also link to even more extensive in-depth explanation pages and blog posts within this wiki.
Calculations
- It is very helpful if you place links to any currently used calculation blogs for the verse within this section, preferably with notes about which characters that they scale to, so visitors can more easily overview the basis for our statistics.
- Take note that you are only allowed to add blogs that have been evaluated and accepted by our calc group to these lists. Adding unaccepted calculations is against our regulations.
- Please remember to update this list if new calculations are added, or old ones are discredited. Accepted calculated supplementary feats are fine to include.
- Here is an example of what such a list may look like.
Verse Scaling
The verse's stats are somewhat difficult to scale.
This is because the foundation for the scaling comes from Destiny 1, where the canon was directed by around ten separate writers. Each writer was writing for different races, factions, events, all with their own views on how powerful the characters should be. One writer might see the Vex as being capable of extra-temporal abilities, whereas another might see the strongest among the Vex as planetary in threat at best.
As such, the verse is mainly scaled off of the main game's plot/events and the intent behind each character.
For instance, say a lore entry makes a character out to be planetary at best. Now say that in-game, they are shown to be universal, and that this is how strong they are intended to be. We would prefer the universal rating as it better suits their canonical facilities. The characters should be judged based off of their main doctrine rather than a side lore entry written by someone who may have different views on the verse's power.
As for the races themselves, there are several consistent factors across all of them.
- The Guardians scale to all other races
- The Cabal regularly fight the Vex
- The Hive regularly interact with stars or higher-dimensional constructs
- The Vex regularly interact with higher-dimensional constructs
