Background

Back to the Future is an American science fiction comedy franchise written by Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale, directed by Zemeckis and produced by Gale and Neil Canton for Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment, and distributed by Universal Pictures. The franchise follows the adventures of a high school student, Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox), an eccentric scientist, Doctor Emmett "Doc" Brown (Christopher Lloyd), and, in the third film, Clara Clayton (Mary Steenburgen), a schoolteacher, as they use a DeLorean time machine to time travel to different periods in the history of Hill Valley, California.

I certainly am. These comics are exceeding my expectations. Again, the people at IDW said, "Can we say that these are canon," which is always something that makes me crazy. It's fiction. How can it be canon? I said, "Look (and we actually have a text piece in the first issue talking about this) when you have a time machine and infinite time lines everything is canon, so, yes, it's all canon and none of it's canon."
