Continuity changes This is a big one. So in Sonic Frontiers, Sonic makes a reference to Tangle the Lemur from the IDW comics. This makes sense, given Ian Flynn wrote both the IDW comics, and Sonic Frontiers.

Given that the IDW comics take place after Sonic Forces, makes references to past Sonic titles, and doesn't contradict anything, we'll be adding the events of IDW to the game timeline and thus merge the IDW profile into the canon profile.

New era, new key Subtitle summarizes it all. Although everything is still within the post-reset era, major events have occurred over the past games that we believe a new key is in order. Starting after Sonic Forces, we have the Post-Rebellion era. This will essentially cover IDW Comics, Sonic Frontiers, and future titles after Frontiers.

New Tier?

Base form As of now, there are no new feats to be added that will bump the cast up. If anything, we have a new anti feat that prevents Sonic from surpassing mountain level. So as of now, Town level will be remaining the current tier.

Super form This unfortunately goes for Super Sonic as well. For reference, The End, the final boss in the game, and debatably the most powerful foe Super Sonic has fought to date, took the combined effort of Super Sonic and Sage to beat while in a weaker form. We even see that Sonic couldn't even push a blast back from the End without the help of Sage.

Now, to address the potential arguments for star level based on the End's statement to destroy stars, we have no reason to assume that its weakened state scales to this potential power, and that's assuming this hype statement is to be taken seriously to begin with. Another issue that falls under this statement can be taken also as a life wiping statement, especially since The End itself is a roaming planetoid.

Furthermore, the End's self destruction killed Sage, and would’ve killed Sonic had she not interfered with the explosion. I'm just gonna say it now, calc or no calc, this explosion is not getting anywhere above planet level or so.

So Frontiers brings us yet another game that makes planet level the most consistent tier for Super forms.

Speed Speed doesn't really change all that much. I guess we just have supporting feats for what they already are. Although IDW comics being canon further nails that faster than light speed is only obtained through the boost?

New Abilities Okay, here's where this CRT gets interesting. Sonic actually does have a few new abilities to spice up his kit a bit, and we'll be looking over each ability starting with base form:

Base Sonic

Light Manipulation & Data Manipulation(?): Sonic's cyloop leaves a trail of light in its wake. The cyloop is also implied to be a sub-power of cyberspace based on the appearance of the light trail.

Creation: Cyloop allows Sonic to create rings for him to collect. He can also create other objects with various effects such as an infinite boost stamina orb(?).

Air Manipulation & Paralysis Inducement: Cyloop can create a vortex of wind that launches opponents in the air, leaving them vulnerable to attacks.

Afterimage Creation & damage boost: Phantom Rush multiplies Sonic's power by 1.2 times its original power, or a 20% increase. Additionally, Sonic moves so fast that he creates multiple afterimages of himself while performing the move.

Shockwave Creation & Curtain Fire: Sonic Boom allows Sonic to [ launch dozens of shockwaves at an opponent].

Enhanced Physics Manipulation & Pseudo-Flight: Sonic Rush allows Sonic to zig-zag in the air towards a target.

Perfect Dodge, Perception Manipulation, & Attack Reflection: Sonic can parry incoming attacks, leaving enemies vulnerable to his own attacks. Additionally, Sonic slows down his perception of time to more easily land attacks after a successful parry. Can also parry and send back projectiles at foes.

Energy Projection & Homing Attack: Can fire multiple energy projectiles at a target that home in on targets with Homing Shot.

Telekinesis: Cyloop allows Sonic to telekinetically lift objects he circles around.

Resistance to Corruption, Data Manipulation, and Paralysis Inducement: Sonic was able to resist the Cyber virus far longer than Sage expected, though he did ultimately succumb after several intakes of the infection.

Super Sonic

Enhanced Afterimage creation & Energy Manipulation: Can create multiple energy-based afterimages that damage foes.

Glyph Creation: Can form large energy projections of his fists and shoes when attacking foes, stacking more damage then he would normally dish out.

Power Nullification & Attack Reflection: Can stop attacks and redirect them in a given direction. Further shown here.

Enhanced Telekinesis: Super Sonic allows Sonic to telekinetically lift objects far larger with Cyloop than he previously could.

Enhanced Curtain Fire & Homing Attack: Super Sonic fires multiple light projectiles that home in on targets when his meter is charged.
