Background

Back to the Future is an American science fiction comedy franchise written by Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale, directed by Zemeckis and produced by Gale and Neil Canton for Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment, and distributed by Universal Pictures. The franchise follows the adventures of a high school student, Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox), an eccentric scientist, Doctor Emmett "Doc" Brown (Christopher Lloyd), and, in the third film, Clara Clayton (Mary Steenburgen), a schoolteacher, as they use a DeLorean time machine to time travel to different periods in the history of Hill Valley, California.

Power of the Verse

The verse is overall not that powerful, with characters naturally being regular humans but anyone with access to time travel has the potential to destroy a universe. They possess naturally to their physiology abilities such as Limited Reality Separation, Limited Acausality, Time Paradox Immunity, etcetera.

Canon

It is noted by Bob Gale that everything for Back to the Future is canon. Along with this he notes that the IDW comics and Telltale games work as not only a part IV to the series but give context and answer questions regarding things like how Doc and Marty met, how Doc’s house burned down, etcetera. Back to the Future is also stated to have infinite timelines by Bob Gale.
