Background
RWBY (pronounced ruby) is an American multimedia franchise produced by Rooster Teeth Productions. It originates as an anime-style web series created by Monty Oum, written and planned with Miles Luna and Kerry Shawcross.
The plot is centered around the four members of the titular Team RWBY – Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna and Yang Xiao Long. The series follows their meeting and training at Beacon Academy, a prestigious school for training Huntsmen and Huntresses, warriors who defend the world from evil.
Along the way, they make many friends and allies, including fellow students Team JNPR, Sun Wukong and Penny Polendina, and foil the plots of villains, such as Roman Torchwick, Cinder Fall and the terrorist group the White Fang. Eventually, they learn of the existence of an ancient witch named Salem and her inner circle that plot to destroy the Kingdoms, and that their Headmaster Ozpin opposes her with his own group.
However, as the series continues, Team RWBY must confront their own demons: Ruby is faced with moral dilemmas that challenge her heroic intent, Weiss must reconcile her legacy as heiress of the Schnee Dust Company with her own personal convictions while facing her father, Blake remains haunted by her past as a member of the White Fang and is forced to face some of her old friends, and Yang searches tirelessly for her mother, who left when she was a child while trying to overcome her trauma from the Fall of Beacon.
While the series continues, both the main show and its spin-offs start portraying darker themes about the world of Remnant. Many of these include corruption of military, corporate, and political power, abuse of workers and family, racism, criminal organizations starting gang wars, and terrorism.
RWBY: World of Remnant is a supplemental mini-series, documenting various areas, beings and objects in Remnant, the world in which RWBY is set.
Episodes of the series provide information on specific subjects within the RWBY universe, with narrative exposition accompanied by illustrative visuals. The art style of World of Remnant is heavily stylized and mostly rendered in 2D as compared to the 3D look of the main series.
World of Remnant episodes air on an irregular release schedule, concurrent with the main show. World of Remnant episodes air during the main series' "off-weeks", in lieu of a full episode. These were irregularly spaced in Volume 2, but Volume 3 features a World of Remnant after every third episode of the series.RWBY Chibi is an animated spin-off of RWBY. The show features stylised "chibi" versions of RWBY characters, with an emphasis on lighthearted comedy rather than plot and drama.
It was first announced as part of Rooster Teeth's 13th Anniversary celebrations on April 1st, 2016. The first episode premiered on May 7th, 2016. Subsequent episodes aired on Saturday mornings at 10am CST, the same time slot as RWBY. The first season of RWBY Chibi was released weekly up until the start of RWBY Volume 4 in Fall 2016. The show returned for its second season during the hiatus between Volume 4 and 5.

Aura is a manifestation of the soul, a life force that runs through every living creature on Remnant, whether they are a meager shopkeep or a renowned knight.

- Aura: Aura is an ability that all those with a soul can use, at least with enough practice. Because Aura is the manifestation of the soul, it can appear very differently depending on who is using it. For example, the color of Aura differs from person to person: Pyrrha Nikos' is red, Jaune Arc's is gold and Lie Ren's is pink, among many others. It is mentioned that anything with a soul has an Aura, including Humans, Faunus, and animals like Zwei; even synthetic people with souls, such as Penny Polendina, can generate an Aura. The Creatures of Grimm, being soulless, are the only known form of life that does not have Aura. Skilled users of Aura can create their own barriers or even increase their own abilities in some way. Weapons and armor can also act as a conduit for Aura, allowing for an even wider range of offensive and defensive capabilities. This even applies to nontraditional "weapons", such as a loaf of bread or a leek, as seen during the food fight in "Best Day Ever". It has been shown that the strength of an Aura degrades with continual use. This limits the applications of Aura in combat as, with time or heavy use, a person's Aura will decay to the point where they are left weakened or even incapacitated. Aura being completely depleted is visually represented as a colored sheen glowing along the length of a person's body or with colored particles flying off the body, indicating that they can now be physically injured. Aura flickering means it is close to being depleted. Aura is a necessary energy source for all Huntsmen, being a powerful ally in battle. It is also required in order to trigger the use of Dust. Aura, as demonstrated by various characters, can be used in the following techniques.
- Defense: Demonstrated by Ren in the Emerald Forest and explained by Pyrrha. Aura is mainly used for defensive purposes. Ren used his to block the fangs of a King Taijitu that was attacking him. While users of Aura will not be hurt as long as their Aura is up, they can still feel sensations such as pain and heat. It requires training to always subconsciously have a cloak of Aura on.
- Offense: Demonstrated by Ren in the forest, as he sends a shockwave of force propelling a fang through the snake's head, causing it to explode. Fox Alistair demonstrated a similar ability during the fight in "Breach", where a shock wave from his fist blew up an Ursa Major. Additionally, Pyrrha has stated that all tools and equipment are conduits for a person's Aura. This is demonstrated twice in "Painting the Town..." and "No Brakes" when Blake unleashes crescent-shaped slashes from her Gambol Shroud, increasing its range and strength.
- Unlocking Aura: One's Aura can be used to 'unlock' the Aura of someone else; as shown by Pyrrha, who unlocks Jaune's Aura. However, doing this appears to take a toll on the user.
- Healing: It also seems that those with a strong enough Aura can heal minor wounds. Jaune used this directly on a small cut after having his Aura unlocked. However, it appears that the healing is automatic and not caused at will.
- Dust Usage: To use the power of Dust, humans and Faunus must use their Aura to trigger it. The user's Aura allows them harness Dust and utilize their elemental power.
- Extrasensory Perception: In the Emerald Forest, Pyrrha explains that Aura allows you to feel like you were being watched without knowing that someone was there, while showing that Ren stopped walking and narrowed his eyes before a King Taijitu appeared behind him. Lie Ren was also able to sense Tyrian Callows approaching Team RNJR in "Tipping Point" and warn his team to prepare for battle. Fox is shown to use Aura to orientate and balance himself due to his blindness.
- Climate Protection: One's Aura can protect from cold weather, as shown by Team RWBY and others walking through a snowstorm in the mountains of Anima with thin clothing and showing no discomfort. As with combat damage, extreme weather will deplete one's Aura eventually, which required the group to seek shelter from the elements at Brunswick Farms. Weiss Schnee's aura had dropped to low levels and she was beginning to shiver from the cold as they entered the farmhouse.
- Sensing Aura: Fox Alistair is shown to be capable of using his Aura to sense other people's Auras almost immediately, describing Coco Adel's as "absurdly strong." Coco notes this is a high-level technique, displaying Fox's expertise in Aura usage.
- Identifying Aura: Fox Alistair is also shown to be able to identify specific Auras, provided he is well aware enough of the target's Aura. He is able to "see" the Aura in colors despite being blind and even identify interconnected Aura, such as the Asturias twins.
- Sembalance: A "Semblance" is the manifestation of one's innate and personal power as an ability unique to each individual, with the effects varying greatly from user to user. With the sheer number of people unlocking their Semblances, it can lead to unrelated people gaining similar abilities. According to Kerry Shawcross, there are some Semblences that "everyone thinks they know what they are, but they're not". The nature of one's Semblance is noted as representing an aspect of their character. However, a person's Semblance can be similar to the Semblances of their parents or other family members. The Schnee family Semblance, summoning glyphs, is unique in the fact that it is completely hereditary. A person can name their Semblance when they fill out their application form for entering a Huntsman Academy. One example of this would be when Coco Adel decided to name her Semblance Hype when filling out her application for Beacon Academy. According to "Aura", the fourth installment of RWBY: World of Remnant, a Semblance is a more tangible projection of one's Aura. Pyrrha Nikos implied this connection when she told Jaune Arc that the use of Aura can help him to discover his Semblance and Miles Luna refers to Semblances as being "fueled" by Aura. Those that use Semblances are able to manipulate certain physical phenomena according to the nature of their power. Some individuals, such as Weiss Schnee, can use Aura to create "glyphs" that generate some desired effect - the most prominent being sudden disruptions in movement and/or bursts of momentum. Others have the ability to enhance their performance, such as Ruby Rose and Harriet Bree, who're able to move at incredible speeds. There are also those who can generate and/or manipulate a specific aspect of nature, like Pyrrha who can control magnetic forces. However, there also exist Semblances that depend on external factors in order to function, such as Yang Xiao Long and Nora Valkyrie, who gain enhance their strength by taking damage and absorbing electricity respectively.
Power of the Verse
Most of the teams in RWBY are strong in their own right, during the events of Volumes 1-6 being Wall level+ and Hypersonic+, with Volume 7-8 characters being Multi-City Block level and Faster Than Light. Beings in Salem and Ospin reach far higher then this and the Gods of Light and Darkness reaching around Moon level and Faster Than Light. The verse has many abilities such as, Aura, Forcefield Creation, Elemental Manipulation, Duplication, etcetera.
