In The Legend of Dragoon, the main character Dart Feld has an attack in his Dragoon form known as Explosion. Very simple here, its called an explosion, the attack is shown to be a barrage of explosions, and so we can work with that very easily.

You can visually see the full extent of the move here. Now, it is a barrage of explosions, but I am going to be calculating only one. They're all the same size, and they're all individual explosions Dart is creating, so I'm not going to be calc stacking.

The formula I'm going to use for this calc is this:

W = R^3*((27136*P+8649)^(1/2)/13568-93/13568)^2

W is the yield in tons in TNT, R is the radius in meters, P is the shockwave pressure in bars.

Here is one of the explosions in question.

Note that you can see two explosions here. This is because of the rapid-fire nature of the move; the moment one explosion reaches its peak, Dart uses another. So while you can see a smaller explosion in there, please focus on the size of the bigger one that is also clearly visible.

Now, this move is being used on a character named Drake the Bandit. He is quite difficult to see here, but I will make it clearer to see him when I mark sizes. He is at the epicenter of the blast, and so I will use his approximate size to determine the blast yield.

Here I've marked Drake's position, and I've also marked down his height. You may be wondering where I got the number from. Drake does not have an official height, but since he is an adult male and stands at the same height as the other males in the game, I used the average male height to give the most accurate results possible.

The average male height is around 5'9", or around 175 centimeters. Since he is at the epicenter, I merely took his size and saw how many times larger the explosion was compared to Drake. Its diameter is 13x larger than Drake, making it 2275 centimeters. Convert that to meters and we get 22.75 meters, and then halve that number to find the radius.

R = 11.375 m

Now all we need to find is P, the shockwave pressure. The standard amount used for all calcs is 1.37895 bars or 20 psi.

P = 1.37895 bars

We have the numbers, and now all we need to do is plug them into the calculation to find out how powerful these explosions really are.

W = 11.375^3*((27136*1.37895+8649)^(1/2)/13568-93/13568)^2

W = 0.118 tons

0.118 tons = Small Building level (Low 8-C)
