Introduction

In Inkwell Isle III's Run 'n Gun level Perilous Piers, an octopus destroys this rock in the water. Doesn't seem all that impressive, but I'm here to make it seem impressive.

The Calculation

Cuphead has been calculated to be 0.7012392156862745 meters tall. In the shot below, he is 167.17px tall.


Rock height = 475px (1.99251436775 meters)

Rock length = 773px (3.24255496057)

Using a ball cap formula, and comparing those lengths to Cuphead's height, we get a volume of 12368829.0191cm³. However, we're not done yet.

Now it would be very illogical to assume the rock is just floating in above the surface, so we're going to assume it's grounded.

How deep is the water? Well we know an octopus lives near these docks, and they typically live in waters around 100 to 150 meters deep. So that, plus the ball cap height, will be how tall our rock is.

Now for simplicity sake, we'll assume that the height and length of the surface rock translates to the base of the rock's bottom. The length of the rock's surface is 1.62736842105 times greater than its height.

100*1.62736842105/2 = 81.3684210525(R)

150*1.62736842105/2 = 122.052631579(R)

For both of these, we're using the formula for a Conical Frustrum's volume. Furthermore, this is obviously fragmentation as we see large chunks fly out.

Low-End: 707420616106 + 12368829.0191 = 707432984935cm³*8 = 5.6594639e+12 joules, or 1352.644335564054 tons of TNT.

High-End: 1.0611309e+12 + 12368829.0191 = 1.0611433e+12cm³*8 = 8.4891464e+12 joules, or 2028.954684512428 tons of TNT.

EDIT:

After a brief discussion off-site, it has been decided to reduce the volume using a previously seen tentacle's length as the depth of the rock that is destroyed below sea.


Cuphead is 168.96px tall in this shot. The tentacle is 938.5px long.

Tentacle length = 3.89508169241 meters

Using our previously established numbers to get the volume, our total below-sea rock volume destroyed is 72653099.0958cm³.

Add this to our the rock above the water, and our total volume is 85021928.1149cm³. 85021928.1149*8 = 680175424.919 joules, or 0.1625658281355163 tons of TNT.

Conclusion

Octopus destroys a rock - 0.1625658281355163 tons of TNT, Small Building level.
