Bridget is a feminine given name of Irish origin, derived from the Gaelic name Brighid meaning "exalted one" or "strength." The name is associated with Saint Brigid of Kildare, one of Ireland's patron saints, as well as the pre-Christian goddess Brigid of the Tuatha Dé Danann.
