Tsundere (ツンデレ) refers to a character archetype in Japanese media that starts with a cold, aloof, or abrasive demeanor but gradually reveals a softer, more affectionate side.

The term combines tsun tsun (ツンツン), meaning "aloof" or "standoffish," and dere dere (でれでれ), meaning "lovey-dovey" or "infatuated." Initially associated with Japanese bishōjo games, the term has since become a staple of the otaku moe phenomenon, appearing across various forms of media. It gained widespread recognition through the visual novel Kimi ga Nozomu Eien.
