Introduction
Dante is a given name of Latin origin, derived from the name Durante meaning "enduring" or "steadfast." The name is most famously associated with the medieval Italian poet Dante Alighieri, author of the Divine Comedy. In modern fiction, characters named Dante normally have some reference to the Divine Comedy.
