Background

Dante is the main protagonist of the Devil May Cry series. A notorious Devil Hunter-for-hire, Dante is the byproduct of the love between a human woman, and a legendary demonic knight named Sparda. As half-Demons, Dante and his brother Vergil have been gifted extraordinary powers.

Spending most of his time in his Devil May Cry shop, Dante is both highly energetic and highly experienced in combat. He spends most of his time fighting legendary demons who threaten to break the seal between the Human and Demonic Realms, including his own brother. As a mercenary, Dante and his friends take on any job revolving around the supernatural.

Codex Statistics

Tier: High 4-C, Higher in Devil Trigger

Name: Dante

Origin: Devil May Cry

Sex: Male

Age: 19 years old

Classification: Son of Sparda

Species: Human/Demon Hybrid

Occupation: Devil Hunter, Devil May Cry shop owner

Alignment: Chaotic Neutral (Dante is extremely chaotic in the way that he carries out jobs, favoring style over finishing off an enemy completely. Although he fights for good, and refuses to take on any jobs of malicious intent, Dante shows little care for the people and places he's actually protecting. He constantly puts people in danger with little care, even though he fights for the sake of the planet)

Dimensionality: 3-D

Attack Potency: High Mass Star level (Could contend with and eventually defeat Arkham, who held the Force Edge but could not wield Sparda's complete power due to his inhumane heart, which is exactly the same situation with Sanctus, making them comparable. Also defeated Vergil, whose younger self has been depicted to be able to face Sanctus. A weakened Sanctus within The Savior could create perfect recreations of entire areas, including ones with the Sun present), Higher in Devil Trigger (Devil Trigger increases attacking power)

Durability: High Mass Star level, Higher in Devil Trigger

Striking Strength: High Mass Star Class, Higher in Devil Trigger

Lifting Strength: Class K (Should be comparable to other demons such as Nero, who could casually lift extremely large demons like Berial)

Travel Speed: Supersonic (Ran so fast that he began to catch on fire, which requires this amount of speed), Higher in Devil Trigger (Devil Trigger increases running speed)

Attack Speed: Faster Than Light, Higher in Devil Trigger

Reaction Speed: Faster Than Light (Is able to avoid lasers from the Damned Rook, which move at lightspeed), Higher in Devil Trigger (Devil Trigger increases Attack Speed)

Stamina: Superhuman (Demons are constantly put on a level beyond human capabilities, able to withstand combat and other extremely strenuous activities without tiring. Although Dante is part human, and thus does have a definable limit on his stamina, he is still beyond regular humans. Dante is capable of fighting through dozens of areas filled with hostiles, that he defeats in extremely acrobatic manners, without taking a break or showing any signs of fatigue)

Range: Standard Melee, Extended Melee with Devil Arms, Hundreds of Meters with firearms

Intelligence: Genius Intelligence in combat (Dante is extremely intelligent in the field of combat, capable of instantly adapting to the fighting styles of massively different varieties of demons. The demons in particular that Dante is able to take out, have existed as blood-lusted fighters for countless years, possibly even centuries)

Powers and Techniques

Superhuman Physical Characteristics (It is stated that there is no modern weapon in existence that can kill a demon), Martial Arts (Dante knows various different fighting styles, and is skilled in hand-to-hand combat. Royal Guard is described as Demon martial arts), Vehicular Mastery (Land Vehicles; Can ride a motorcycle with extreme skill), Human Achievements (Can play the electric guitar), Acrobatics (Trickster allows for several types of evasive moves and stunts. Can perform wall jumps and rolls. Has insane acrobatic skill allowing for him to perform nearly-impossible tricks with ease), Weapon Mastery (Dante is proficient with weapons ranging from swords, to firearms, and many others. Is noted to have incredible sword techniques), Regeneration (Mid; Can instantly recover from being fatally stabbed numerous times, and being shot directly through the head), Teleportation (Air Trick allows for brief teleportation), Absorption & Healing (Royal Guard allows for Dante to recover health from absorbing attacks), Perception Manipulation (Quicksilver has Dante make it appear as though everything around him has slowed down tremendously), Duplication & Afterimage Creation (Doppelganger has Dante create a perfect duplication of himself known as an afterimage), Damage Boost (Melee attacks can be charged to become more powerful), Damage Reduction (Weapons of the Human World deal less damage to those of demonic blood), Immersion (Can enter mirrors), Darkness Manipulation (Air Hike allows for Dante to create a platform under his feet through dark power), Awakening (Having the Rebellion pierce him awakened a devil inside of him, his Devil Trigger state)

Equipment

  • Rebellion: Rebellion is Dante's default Devil Arm, a keepsake sword given to him by his father, Sparda. Although Rebellion is a magic blade, its true power has not truly awakened at the beginning of Dante's adventure. After a confrontation with Vergil, however, the Rebellion fully awakens, and with it comes Dante's Devil Trigger awakening as well.
  • Cerberus: The three headed hellhound that guards the entrance to the Temen-ni-gru becomes a three-bar nunchuck set that Dante whips around with great speed. Cerberus inflicts ice damage, and certain attacks are capable of freezing enemies in place. However, it has more limited attack range than Rebellion.
  • Agni & Rudra: These twin swords stand as guardians to prevent the unworthy from passing onward to the Three Trial of Temen-ni-gru. One is a sword of fire, the other a blade of wind. When wielding them together, Dante becomes capable of some incredibly fast and deadly attacks.
  • Nevan: Nevan is the vampiric demon goddess of the underworld, who lures the souls of men into her opera house of the damned with her haunting voice. When Dante defeats her, she becomes a guitar axe of devastating power. Although one of the most unconventional weapons in videogame history, Nevan is an extremely effective demon slaying tool.
  • Beowulf: These gauntlets and greaves use the heavenly power of flash to strike down demonic entities with holy retribution. Although extremely powerful, the Beowulf set requires that Dante get up close and personal with his target. However, the punches and kicks he can deliver with this set leave even the toughest enemies reeling!

Notable Techniques

  • Trickster: When this mode is enabled, Dante becomes able to perform evasive dodge moves, and also enables other stunts that may allow for him to land on hard-to-reach places when jumping.
  • Swordmaster: This Style further enhances the capabilities of all melee weapons, such as the Devil Arms. When utilizing this Style, Dante can perform additional moves and combos beyond the Devil Arms' normal capabilities.
  • Gunslinger: The Gunslinger Style maximizes the potential of firearms, and enables extra attacks with each weapon beyond the standard point-and-fire action.
  • Royal Guard: The Royal Guard Style is almost a kind of Demon martial arts. Dante can block incoming enemy attacks, all the while building up a charge that can be unleashed in Release or Air Release combos. Dante can also use this to absorb attacks and use them to replenish his health meter. Royal Guard requires a lot of precision in order to properly guard any and all attacks.
  • Quicksilver: Dante learns the Quicksilver Style after defeating Geryon. This Style allows for Dante to greatly slow his perception of time with the snap of his fingers, making it appear as though everything around him has slowed to a halt. This allows for him to dodge enemy attacks and deliver his own combos before they even know what him them.
  • Doppelganger: Dante learns the Doppelganger Style after defeating the Doppelganger enemy. This style allows for Dante to essentially create a duplicate image of himself while in Devil Trigger form. The Doppelganger mimics all of Dante's attacks, thereby doubling the amount of damage Dante deals.

Other

Weaknesses: Dante is quite arrogant at times, never taking battles seriously and worsening conflicts far beyond necessity. He constantly plays around with his foes, mocks them, and does many things to get under their skin. This can result in him being caught off guard, as underestimating his opponents often leads to. Even in times of his life when he wasn't highly energetic, Dante is still quite flashy and doesn't prioritize finishing fights as quickly as he should.
