Helper Call
Background
Helper Call is the ability to bring in allies, companions, or supportive entities to assist in battle or other tasks. Unlike traditional Summoning, which often involves mystical or magical use to call forces, Helper Call can involve technological constructs, animal companions, autonomous projections, or even trusted allies who respond to the user’s call through regular means. The defining trait of this ability is the direct action of calling these helpers—whether through a device, a command, etcetera—without relying on supernatural methods.
This power is often seen in settings where characters have sidekicks, robots, animals, or personal constructs that accompany them as part of their arsenal. These helpers can act independently or as extensions of the user’s will, providing both strategic and emotional support.
Also Called
- Support Deployment
- Calling Backup
- Companion Call
- Ally Call
Possible Applications
- Summon mechanical drones or robots to attack, defend, or scout.
- Call in trained animals like hawks, wolves, or steeds to aid in combat or travel.
- Deploy autonomous copies or clones of oneself that can act separately.
- Summon allies through technology, like using a communicator or AI system.
- Bring in loyal friends or subordinates for coordinated attacks or support.
Practical Uses
- Gain a tactical advantage in combat by flanking or overwhelming foes with multiple attackers.
- Use specialized helpers to tackle different challenges (e.g., scouts for stealth, tanks for defense).
- Perform tasks that require multiple hands or abilities, such as complex repairs or large-scale construction.
- Distract enemies or protect vulnerable allies by deploying helpers as shields or decoys.
- Enhance versatility by switching between different helpers depending on the situation.
Variations
- Mechanical Helpers: Drones, androids, or mechanical constructs that obey the user’s commands.
- Animal Companions: Loyal beasts or trained creatures that fight or assist alongside the user.
- Ally Reinforcements: Trusted friends or subordinates who join the user temporarily on request.
- Self-Extensions: Copies, projections, or clones of the user that act autonomously. Normally through means of Duplication.
- Energy Constructs: Solid or semi-solid projections that manifest as temporary helpers.
Possible Limitations
- The number of helpers may be limited by the user’s resources, energy, or environment.
- Each helper has its own durability and capabilities, and they can be defeated or disabled.
- Some helpers may not be fully controllable, acting independently or even unpredictably.
- In some settings, calling a helper may take time or leave the user vulnerable during the summoning.
- If the helper is an actual ally, they may have their own motives and may not always be available.
