The Doorman's body consists of a portal to the Darkforce Dimension.

Background

Portal Manipulation is the ability to create openings or gateways through space, time, dimensions, or alternate realities. These portals allow instant or near-instant travel between two or more points, bypassing conventional movement. Depending on the user’s capabilities, these portals can range from simple doorways to advanced spatial constructs that span vast cosmic distances or even lead to non-linear time loops.

While often used as a means of transport, this power can also serve offensive, defensive, or strategic purposes. Users may redirect attacks through portals, summon allies or weapons from afar, or displace enemies to distant or hazardous locations.

Also Called

  • Dimensional Gate Creation
  • Rift Generation
  • Wormhole Creation
  • Spatial Tunneling

Possible Applications

  • Teleportation: Rapid travel between two or more points through created portals.
  • Summoning: Pulling allies, weapons, or items from other locations or dimensions.
  • Battlefield Removal: Forcibly sending opponents into inaccessible or unknown areas.
  • Attack Reflection: Redirecting attacks by opening portals in their path.
  • Ambush Tactics: Using portals to appear behind or beside a target undetected.
  • Emergency Escape: Creating exit routes in combat or from hazardous situations.
  • Cross-Dimensional Travel: Accessing alternate timelines, universes, or realities.
  • Portal-Based Traps: Using unstable or looping portals to confuse or trap opponents.
  • Environment Manipulation: Opening portals to regions with hazardous environments (e.g., underwater, space, lava zones) to overwhelm enemies.

Practical Uses

  • Allows instant transport across short or vast distances, bypassing obstacles or terrain.
  • Redirects projectiles and beams to reflect them or hit from unexpected directions.
  • Can summon reinforcements, tools, or constructs from afar.
  • Forcibly ejects enemies into prisons, voids, or foreign worlds.
  • Used to execute surprise attacks or avoid confrontation altogether.
  • Combines with other abilities (e.g., elemental attacks) for enhanced range or unpredictability.

Variations

  • Spatial Portals: For movement between physical locations in space.
  • Temporal Portals: Travel between different points in time.
  • Dimensional Portals: Opens gates to alternate dimensions or planes of existence.
  • One-Way vs. Two-Way: Some portals only allow travel in one direction, others permit two-way access.
  • Fixed vs. Mobile: Portals may stay stationary or follow the user or a target.

Possible Limitations

  • Range Restrictions: May only allow travel within a limited area.
  • Stability: Portals can collapse or become unstable under certain conditions.
  • Targeting Accuracy: Misjudging coordinates can result in arriving at the wrong destination.
  • Energy Cost: Larger or longer-lasting portals may require significant power or stamina.
  • Cooldown Time: Portals may require a delay before another can be opened.
  • Environmental Interference: Some spaces may block or suppress portal use.
  • Portal Dependency: Over-reliance on portals can leave users vulnerable if disabled.
