Forum - Versus Threads Profile Reinstatement

[#18]

This thread isn't me asking for a reinstatement, but I have seen some people off site ask for this back, the issue was I never saw a point to it when they had to be made on the discord and moved onto the wiki, which was awful.

Though now that we have an actual official Wiki Forum, there could be a potential reinstatement of versus threads onto profiles.

So I personally am neutral on this, I don't care if versus threads are back on the profile or not, but I imagine some people would want them for fun.

What I'd suggest IF it gets reinstated though, for one it does not go in Battle Records, hell I'd suggest it going below Battle Records, I don't know what it as a section would be named but that could be discussed.

Now I'm going to be playing devil's advocate for both sides so everyone has a general understanding as to why it was initially removed and the potential counterarguments to them.

Arguments against them:

  • "Site's main purpose is indexing the official material of the characters and vs threads aren't official"
  • "This is the closest thing connecting us to a powerscaling wiki"
  • "Who realistically uses versus threads, they are just fra fests."

Arguments for them:

  • While that is the site's main purpose, simple side additions for fun don't matter.
  • Having a connection doesn't make it a powerscaling wiki, especially as a side thing for fun.
  • Changing around how wins and rules work would help with this.

Like I said I'm on neither side, the only things I agree with are fra fests are a no and the site's main purpose, but if people feel it'll allow for further creativity on the profile then I'm open to reinstatement.

This is for people to discuss, I'll leave this thread open, even if the thing gets reinstated I'll still leave it open if there's convincing arguments to not reinstate them. I don't know if WikiForums has a text limit, then I'll make a new thread. We'll see how this goes.

After having levied both arguments, the original sides arguments don't really work for me anymore.

"Site's main purpose is indexing the official material of the characters and vs threads aren't official" >Codex Statistics by all technicalities isn't official either so this would also need to be removed. While there is an argument for this, I don't see it as a realistic one I or many others would agree with. Some areas of general information also take some assumptions, just reasonable ones.

"This is the closest thing connecting us to a powerscaling wiki" >Honestly a thread that will not even cover 1% of most profiles does not feel like it connects us that much to powerscaling. There are several other things that technically "connect" us too, there's going to be some connections as this wiki was initially a powerscaling wiki. The main idea is this wiki is overall not one and this existing will not suddenly stop that.

"Who realistically uses versus threads, they are just fra fests." >I have developed an entirely new system that basically makes them not fra fests so that part is no longer an issue. For the former, while it is true that it will likely not be used much unless more users decide to use the versus thread forum, versus threads never existed for the purpose of "everyone will use them" but just a side fun hobby.

So overall the reasonings for their removal don't satisfy where we currently are and only truly worked back when versus threads were primarily on the discord so they would've been borderline impossible to truly integrate and required one to have a discord account in the first place.

Thus I will reinstate versus threads back onto profiles. They will not be in ==Battle Records== but rather it's own section called ==Versus Threads== as Battle Records implies official matchups which Versus Threads wouldn't fall under as there fan matches that can be changed at anytime.

If anyone is vehemently against the idea you can obviously comment here and give reasons for it to be removed and I can see if they satisfy a reason to remove them.
