| In Tattletail
December 20, 1998' The Player wakes up during the night to get a peeking at one of their present. upon going down the basement, The player opens their Christmas present early, which is revealed to be a purple-furred Baby Talking Tattletail. They feed fees and brush him before then putting him back in his toy box and wrapping him back up. The Player then returns to bed for the night. December 21, 1998 The player is woken up by a sound coming from the basement. Upon going down to investigate, The player finds Tattletail in the dryer. As Tattletail's battery is low, The Player charges him before the former prompts them to play a game. The player is accordingly tasked with finding a vase to "play" with. In doing this, the vase breaks, and the lights go out. After the player retrieves the flashlight, Mama is seen briefly in the dark just before the lights turn back on. After putting Tattletail back in his box and wrapping him back up, the player will return to bed for the night. December 22, 1998 The Player is woken up by a grinding sound coming from the basement. Upon going down to investigate, The Player finds Mama Tattletail and inserts a nearby tape into her. Upon listening to Mama's story, The Player goes back upstairs to find that Tattletail has a made a mess in the living room. Upon seeing the player, Tattletail will request to be taken to Mama whom, upon the player arriving to her previous location, has vanished. Tattletail is put back in his toy box and wrapped back up, while the Player goes back up to clean his mess while beign attacked by Mama. Upon the mess being cleaned, the player will return to bed for the night.
The Player is woken up by chattering from outside. Upon going out to investigate, The player will encouter their Tattletail in the garage conversing with a yellow Tattletail. The player interacts with this Tattletail by playing Hide & Seek with it, in which the yellow Tattletail goes to hide for an increasing amount of time while the player is left to survive with their own Tattletail against Mama. At the end of this chapter, the player finds a VHS tape featuring a Tattletail commercial in which Mama Tattletail appears, showing her being responsible for the murder of Waygetter security guard. December 24, 1998 The Player is woken up directly by their Tattletail telling them to wake up. After the player picks up Tattletail he says that he and other implied Tattletails are "having a party for Mama". The player is requested to help them. The player is led towards the basement, where the previous yellow Tattletail is accompanied by a blue Tattletail. The player sets down their own Tattletail on the charging station and is told to bring friends from under the Christmas tree and in the garage, alongside other various items, all the while avoiding Mama. Bringing down and placing these items accordingly will then begin some sort of ritual involving a pentagram to banish Mama. During said ritual, Mama will steal the candles and hide them in vases around the basement, while also hunting the player. Surviving the ritual and destroying the VHS tape ends in the five Tattletails being wrapped into presents, after which the player goes to bed. Canon Ending Upon waking up, the player will go open their Christmas present. upon opening it, Purple Tattletail is revealed. Tattletail will give the player his tag, on which is recorded his manufacturing information and date of 'birth,' as well as a Golden Flashlight, which takes longer to drain than the normal flashlight. The player then goes to wake up their mother. Upon opening the door, the mother can be heard yawning, and Tattletail says "Thank you!" to the player. then The game will end on a white screen. Bad Ending A Tattletailtoy box is given to the player on Christmas Day. After it is opened, it is shown to be empty, which then triggers Mama to jumpscare the player, thus meaning the ritual was unsuccessful. In The Kaleidoscope When the player opens their present on Christmas Day, they find Tattletail to be significantly different; he now has spots on his fur, his eyes are green, and now gives out educational facts periodically. The player then hears knocking on their front door, and finds a mysterious letter telling them that the events occurring are not what actually happened, and that they must go back to previous nights to try to remember what actually transpired throughout the week. As the player travels back through time, they find memories that portray Mama as a kind, loving, and harmless toy. The player receives more letters that say that their memories have been tampered by someone, and must enter a warped dimension known as The Kaleidoscope, where all memories are stored. When the player enters The Kaleidoscope, they can find a deactivated Mama in the kitchen, with the option to load a cassette within her. The man speaking during the tape, most likely a Waygetter Electronics executive, introduces Waydrives, which are responsible for giving the Tattletail toys their unique personalities, and possibly their sentience. Traveling further down, the player finds a distorted version of the VHS Tape, showing an alternate version of the Tattletail advertisement. After watching it, the player is sent back December 20, with the original talking Tattletail instead of the educational one. The night transpires the same way it did in the original game, until the player is instructed to wrap Tattletail back up. When the player is halfway to the box's location, Tattletail tells a knock-knock joke. After the player's "who's there" response, Tattletail says "Orange!". After the player responds "Orange who?", the screen blacks out, and Mama jumpscares them, finishing the joke with "Orange you forgetting someone?!", indicating that the player never left the dimension. The player and Tattletail are then sent back to The Kaleidoscope's distorted version of the house, and Mama returns to her malevolent persona. The player then has to find the exit to the dimension, and escape Mama. As the player nears the exit, Mama becomes increasingly more desperate, as she begs that they do not leave her, in a desperate attempt to feign mercy from them. After exiting The Kaleidoscope, they are sent back to their house, with everything normal restored again, as well as receiving another letter congratulating them for their success. The expansion ends with the camera ominously zooming in on Tattletail, with Mama's chase music playing, before abruptly stopping. He then jokingly says "Me love you!" to the player, as the screen transitions to the credits. |

Trivia
- Ben Esposito (the game's creator) has said that the child was not intended to have a set gender, but it can be assumed they are one of the children seen in the photograph of their room. Many assume they are male due to the boyish look of their bedroom. Or they could be a girl with a tomboy personality.
- In the game, the protagonist appears to have a dog, but it is only alluded to through the appearance of a doghouse outside and the presence of dog food in one of the eggs. Additionally, a doggy dish is present in the basement. When asked about the whereabouts of the dog, Waygetter refused to comment on it.
- The Protagonist can be seen in a couple of photos to be good at sports, which may explain their running capability.
- The protagonist's gender is not known, but in the photo above we can assume one of the children is the protagonist. It is thought that due to the player's gender, they get to choose which child they are from the photo.
