This is for calculations dealing with the energy of generic avalanches. It should be noted that people in most cases don't scale to avalanches as they're a form of Environmental Destruction, but this is still handy to have in rare cases.

Large avalanches release 230000 cubic meters of snow on average.

Settled snow has a density of 200 kg/m^3.

230000m^3*200kg/m^3 = 46000000 kg

Avalanches can reach a speed of 80 mph or 36 m/s.

KE = (M*0.5)*(V^2)

(46000000kg*0.5)*(36m/s^2) = 29808000000 joules or 7.1 tons of TNT or Large Building level

Like I already said, most people do not scale to avalanches as 93% of humans survive avalanches if dug out within 15 minutes. Which means there's a clear AoE thing going on here, this calculation should only really be used with someone that can generate the same force as an avalanche or someone that can stop an avalanche entirely.
