Introduction

Yeah so a whale explodes in RWBY Volume 8 or something. GeoZ wants it calculated, and it is my duty to provide to the almighty GeoZ.

The Calculation

This was isn't too complex, we get a nice reference in the form of buildings next to the explosion.

The building in question is quite tall in comparison to other buildings in the area, so we'll use a 60 storey office building which is roughly 273 meters tall.

167px = 273 meters

480px = 801.017964071 meters

Since this is a ground explosion, the formula is W = 400.508982036^3*((27136*1.37895+8649)^(1/2)/13568-93/13568)^2 = 5.16323980308 kilotons of TNT, or Multi-City Block level+ (8-A)

Conclusion

Whale goes boom: 5.16323980308 kilotons of TNT, 8-A. I don't know if this should scale to anyone, and quite frankly, I don't really care.
