From The Codex

Introduction

So in The Legend of Zelda: Battle Quest, there are bombs, which do what you expect them to do. Time to see how much power they pack.

The Calculation

Building Our Final Equation

So for our reference, we will once again use the average male height, which is 1.758 meters roughly. Using this as our reference point makes our bridge width about 3.26319668976 meters.

Now going back and using that to compare the explosion diameter, we get a number of 6.24295313176 meters.

Given this particular explosion has a full blast when shot at in the air, thus not a hemisphere, we can therefore deduce the best formula to use is the air formula.

Final Equation

((0.00624295313176/0.28)^3)/1000/2 = 0.00554199505 tons of TNT. This on its own is already rather high into Wall level. However, we can take it a step further by multiplying the result by five due to five-stack bomb pallets existing.

Therefore, our final result for the total value is now 0.02770997525 tons of TNT, which now makes the feat Small Building level (Low 8-C).

Conclusion

  • Single Bomb Explosion: 0.00554199505 tons of TNT (9-B+)
  • Five-Pallet Bomb Explosion: 0.02770997525 tons of TNT (9-A)

Bonus Calculation

So I completely forgot about these boulder bombs, which are described as being full of explosives[1]. Time to find about how much TNT this thing is packin!

The Calculation

Building our Final Equation

We'll use our standard height of 1.758 meters, which makes this gateway door about 2.6413300486 meters tall.

Comparing it to the bomb makes the bomb's diameter about 3.29456221092 meters.

This makes the volume of the boulder roughly 18.723703724291 meters³. Accounting for hollowness and physical structure, along with converting to centimeters, means the volume in which gunpowder occupies the boulder is 14978962.9794cm³.

Gunpowder is measured in grains, with a single mesh size grain of four being 4.750mm (0.475cm). This is about 7115007.41521 grains, and one grain weighs 0.06479891 grams.

Final Equation

Converting that makes the weight of the boulder's gunpowder about 461044.725148 grams, which translates to 0.508214815372666 tons of TNT, or Small Building level.

Conclusion

  • Boulder Bomb Weight: 0.508214815372666 tons of TNT (Low 8-C)
  1. This explosives-filled boulder is made for rolling down slopes. I highly suggest you shoot it BEFORE it reaches you.
