Introduction
Acrobatics is the performance of human feats of balance, agility, and motor coordination. Acrobatic skills are used in performing arts, sporting events, and martial arts. Extensive use of acrobatic skills are most often performed in acro dance, circus, and gymnastics, and to a lesser extent in other athletic activities including ballet, slacklining and diving. Although acrobatics is most commonly associated with human body performance, the term is used to describe other types of performance, such as aerobatics. Acrobatics can have higher level of extraordinary abilities within fiction, to the point where someone can break the laws of physics.
Applications
- Enhanced Condition: Having superhuman athleticism, such as leaping over buildings, climbing great heights no regular human could, etcetera. Due to having these abilities the user normally has superhuman stamina and endurance at the moment of performing such movements.
- Hypermobility: Hypermobility allows the user to perform movements that would normally cause pain to parts of the body, ranging from small to life-threatening.
- All-Terrain Mobility: The user does not suffer any negative effects by moving in different types of terrains: closed spaces, slippery surfaces, collapsing structures. The user could hardly lose balance and speed in such terrains.
- Physics Defying: The user pulls off physics defying acrobatic movement, parkour, etcetera. These are movements or actions that naturally go against the laws of physics.
- Mid-Air Jump: Acting almost as they stand on a solid surface, the users are capable of performing additional jumps in the middle of the air. Some users can even obtain Pseudo-flight by jumping in mid-air indefinitely.
- Inertia Manipulation: The user controls their own inertia, or form of movement. Being capable of accelerating and decelerating when they please rather then following physics.
- Surface Running: The user can run up surfaces that are normally impossible to run up such as trees, icy terrain, mountains, etcetera. Unlike Surface Scaling, a user needs to keep their speed in order to keep moving across the surface, falling back once they lose momentum.
- Aquabatics: The user can perform aerobatic stunts while swimming, such as regular acrobatics, turns, loops, corkscrews, barrel rolling, spins, swim upside down or backwards or otherwise make impressive swimming maneuvers.
Users
- Cal Kestis (Star Wars): Jedis such as Cal Kestis use various different parkour tricks to traverse around different planets, including the jedi flip, a patented double jump.
- Hat Kid (A Hat In Time): Hat Kid uses various platforming tricks to traverse around each level, including wall jumping, dive jumping, double jumping, etcetera.
- Mario (Super Mario Bros.): Mario is known for his superhuman jumping abilities, allowing him to traverse large scale levels with spin jumps, triple jumps, long jumps, dive jumps, wall jumps, summersaults, etcetera.
- Sonic the Hedgehog (Sonic the Hedgehog): Sonic along with his speed has various different parkour abilities he can use it for, such as running up walls, gaining great jumping height, etcetera.
