Introduction

A Poker Face is another name for making a blank expression, which is a facial expression characterized by neutral positioning of the facial features, implying a lack of strong emotion. The term "poker face" is described as a deliberately induced blank expression meant to conceal one's emotions, referring to the common practice of maintaining one's composure when playing the card game poker. This term comes from the special language used in poker, and is not only about a person's facial expression but also other extraneous movements that could give insight into what they are feeling, such as clenching fists, bouncing a leg, or constant repositioning of their body and or cards.

Applications

Standard Poker Face

A standard poker face applies to one that applies to what one can do in real life, using deliberate methods to induce blank expressions and maintaining one's composure, these scenarios usually apply to playing card games.

Supernatural Poker Face

A supernatural poker face applies to one that's able to mask and conceal their emotions in situations where a normal human would realistically crack. A perfect example of this can be seen from the series Avatar: The Last Airbender where Aang must show no emotion, not even the slightest expression while speaking to Koh, the Face Stealer or he will steal Aang's face[1], this would be something impossible for a regular human to do as they would crack immediately knowing the threat level.
