These doctors talking about surviving. One year, two years, like it’s the only thing that matters. But what good is it to just survive if I am too sick to work, to enjoy a meal, to make love? For what time I have left, I want to live in my own house. I want to sleep in my own bed. I don’t want to choke down thirty or forty pills every single day and lose my hair and lie around too tired to get up and so nauseated that I can’t even move my head. You cleaning up after me? Me–some dead man, some artificially alive, just marking time? No. No. And that’s how you would remember me. That’s the worst part. So that is my thought process, Skyler. I’m sorry. Walt went on to confront and then massacre Jack's entire gang, executing Jack in the same way that Jack did Hank and getting revenge for the murders of both Hank and Steve. In doing so, Walt set Jesse free from his slavery, and quietly succumbed to a ricocheted bullet wound he sustained in the massacre on the floor of a meth lab, having finally resolved many of the problems he had caused.

'''Standard Tactics:''' Walter uses a mixture of stealth and shooting when he thinks someone is nearby but doesn't know where they are. Otherwise, Walter always goes for shooting to kill his opponent. In situations that he cannot possibly win in, he always comes up with a strategy such as making it to where the person cannot kill him in the first place (such as when he managed to get Jesse to kill Gale so that Mike couldn't kill him at the Laundromat) or he will convince them to not kill him (such as when he convinced Krazy-8 and Emilio to not kill him). If Walter is given preparation, he will always prepare a weapon such as a bomb (As he planted a bomb on Gus' car and in the hospital that he was visiting) or a gun (Such as when he built a machine gun into his car). He also uses his scientific knowledge to his advantage such as when he used crystals of fulminated mercury in order to blow up Tuco's office. He also uses ricin in order to kill people although this is unusable in combat and more so in very specific situations like when Tuco had Walter at his house and when he poisoned Lydia.

My name is Walter Hartwell White. I live at 308 Negra Aroya Lane, Albuquerque, New Mexico, 87104. To all law enforcement entities, this is not an admission of guilt. I am speaking to my family now. Skyler, you are the love of my life. I hope you know that. Walter Jr., you're my big man. There are going to be some things that you'll come to learn about me in the next few days. But just know that no matter how it may look, I only had you in my heart. Goodbye.
„
~ Walter recording a farewell message for his family
“
I said, FUCK YOU. AND YOUR EYEBROWS.
„
~ Walter to Bogdan
“
Look, Skyler, I just haven’t quite been myself lately. I haven’t been myself lately, but I love you. Nothing about that has changed, and nothing ever will. So right now, what I need is for you to climb down out of my ass. Can you do that? Will you do that for me, honey? Will you please, just once, get off my ass. You know, I’d appreciate it. I really would.
„
~ Walter calmly tells Skyler to stop meddling in his affairs
“
All right, I’ve got the talking pillow now. Okay? We all, in this room, we love each other. We want what’s best for each other, and I know that. I am very thankful for that. But what I want, what I need, is a choice…. Sometimes, I feel like I never actually make any of my own–choices, I mean. My entire life, it just seems I never, you know, had a real say about any of it. Now this last one–cancer–all I have left is how I choose to approach this…. Skyler, you’ve read the statistics. I’m sorry. I just–I choose not to do it.
„
~ Walter confessing his true feelings to his family
“
I have spent my whole life scared – frightened of things that could happen, might happen, might not happen. Fifty years I spent like that. Finding myself awake at three in the morning. But you know what? Ever since my diagnosis, I sleep just fine.
„

I deserve this
„
~ Walter thinking he's going to die in the desert
“
Oh, no, that's not cheating. Look god... Alright Hank, l-listen to me. So you broke bad one night, big deal, who doesn't? You move on from here okay? You are about to marry the woman of your dreams man. Now come on, move forward. Sin no more, alright?
„
~ Walter trying to justify Hank cheating on Marie in Wedding Day
“
You're really lucky, you know that? You didn't have to wait your whole life to do something special.
„
~ Walter White to Jesse in El Camino
“
Alright, we're done. We're done with the questions. We ask the questions. So, you have a job, one job... and I still don't understand how you're gonna pull it off.
„
~ Walt telling Saul Goodman not to ask any further questions in the Better Call Saul episode Breaking Bad
“
Jesse!
„
“
Who are you talking to right now? Who is it you think you see? ...Do you know how much I make a year? I mean, even if I told you, you wouldn't believe it. Do you know what would happen if I suddenly decided to stop going to work? A business big enough that it could be listed on the NASDAQ goes belly up; disappears, it ceases to exist without me. No, you clearly don't know who you're talking to, so let me clue you in. I am not in danger, Skyler. I am the danger. A guy opens his door and gets shot and you think that of me? No. I am the one who knocks!
„
~ Walter telling Skyler who he is
“
Alright, let's talk about Gale Boetticher. He was a good man and a good chemist. He didn't deserve what happened to him. He didn't deserve it at all. But I'd shoot him again and tomorrow and the next day and the day after that. When you make it Gale versus me, or Gale versus Jesse, Gale loses! Simple as that. This is on you, Gus, not me, not Jesse. I mean really, what'd you expect me to do? Just simply roll over and allow you to murder us? That I wouldn't take measures – extreme measures – to defend myself? Wrong! Think again.
„
~ Walter to Gustavo Fring
“
Then what else should I not worry about, Saul, hm? Should I not worry that Gus plans to murder me at the first chance he gets? Should I not worry that my drug-addicted partner doesn't seem to care whether he lives or dies? You should see his house. It's like skid row! He has actual hobos living there! Now how long before Gus decides that he's too big of a risk? That guy Mike, that grunting dead-eyed cretin, sucker punching me in the face! I've got Gus wielding a box cutter! I mean...Western Union! Message received! Let me ask you, when did this stop being a business, hm? Why am I the only person capable of behaving in a professional manner?
„
~ Walter venting to Saul
“
If that's true, if you don't know who I am, then maybe your best course... would be to tread lightly.
„
~ Walter in response to Hank saying "I don't even know who I'm talking to right now."
“
If you're watching this tape, I'm probably dead, murdered, by my brother-in-law Hank Schrader. Hank has been building a meth empire for over a year now and using me as his chemist. Shortly after my 50th birthday, he asked that I used my chemistry knowledge to cook methamphetamine, which he would then sell using connections that he made through his career with the DEA. I was astounded, I always thought Hank was a very moral man, and I was particularly vulnerable at the time, something that he knew and took advantage of. I was reeling from the cancer diagnosis that was poised to bankrupt my family. Hank took me on a ride along and showed me how much money even a small meth operation could make. I was weak, I didn't want my family to go into financial ruin, so I agreed. Hank had a partner, businessman named Gustavo Fring. Hank sold me into servitude to this man. When I tried to quit, Fring threatened my family. I didn't know where to turn. Eventually, Hank and Fring had a falling out and things escalated. Fring was able to arrange.. I guess you call it a hit.. on Hank and it failed, but Hank was seriously injured. So I wound up paying his medical bills, which amounted to a little over 177,000 dollars. Upon recovery, Hank was bent on revenge. Working with a man named Hector Salamanca, he plotted to kill Fring. The bomb that he used was built by me, and he gave me no option in it. I've often contemplated suicide, but I'm a coward. I wanted to go to the police, but I was frightened. Hank had risen to become the head of the Albuquerque DEA. To keep me in line, he took my children for 3 months he kept them. My wife had no idea of my criminal activities, was horrified to learn what I had done. I was in Hell, I hated myself for what I had brought upon my family. Recently, I tried once again to quit and in response, he gave me this. I can't take this anymore. I live in fear every day that Hank will kill me or worse, hurt my family. All I can think to do is to make this video and hope that the world will finally see this man for what he really is.

Open your eyes! Can't you see that I needed you on my side to kill Gus. I ran over those gang bangers, I killed Emilio and Krazy-8, why? I did all of things to try and save your life as much as mine! But only you're too stupid to know it!
„

Is this too hot for you?! Ju— You know what, just say so! You know what? Screw it. "Crazy." I'll tell you what's crazy! Fifty-year-old high school chemistry teacher comes into my office. The guy is so broke, he can't pay his own mortgage. One year later, he's got a pile of cash as big as a Volkswagen. That's crazy.

My regrets, alright, well... My regrets. Well... When I was a graduate student, I started a company with some people. At the time, I thought they were my friends. Our goal was to commercialize... discoveries that I had made. And... At a certain point, I stepped away. I thought I was doing the gentlemanly thing. But little did I understand that they were artfully maneuvering me into leaving my own creation! And, had I stayed, oh... Well. I wouldn't be down here with you

~ Walter explaining why he became Heisenberg to Skyler
Walter Hartwell White Sr., also known by his clandestine pseudonym and business moniker Heisenberg, is a chemist and drug kingpin living in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Walt is a former high school chemistry teacher at J. P. Wynne High School who, after being diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, starts manufacturing crystal methamphetamine with his former student, Jesse Pinkman, in order to pay for his treatments and secure the financial future of his family: his wife Skyler, son Walt Jr., and infant daughter Holly.
Due to Walt's skill with chemistry and dedication to perfection, the meth he cooks is astonishingly pure and potent - and due to an alternative chemical process he uses to create it, it has a distinct blue coloration. Walt's "Blue Sky" catches the attention of dealers who want a piece of such high-quality product, and also the DEA who want to find out where it's coming from. Walt adopts the moniker "Heisenberg" as an alias as he immerses himself in the drug trade and works his way up to the international level, becoming a famous and feared drug kingpin.
The following synopsis contains massive spoilers for Breaking Bad.
In the 1980s, Walt co-founded the company Gray Matter Technologies with his friend Elliott Schwartz and then-girlfriend Gretchen, but he left both Gray Matter and Gretchen soon after and sold his stake in the company for merely $5,000, while Gretchen and Elliott married and then went on to propel Gray Matter Technologies to becoming a multi-billion dollar business. Walt was never credited for his early work in the company, and resented them for it for years after. Walt eventually took up two jobs as both a high school chemistry teacher and a car wash employee in order to stay financially afloat. Eventually, though, he was diagnosed with lung cancer, and, fearing the idea of dying without leaving any money to his family, Walt began to search for other means of making money.
After joining his brother-in-law and accomplished DEA agent Hank Schrader on a drug bust and hearing from Hank about the lucrative profits that drug manufacturing and dealing could produce, Walt decided to use his knowledge of chemistry to become involved in the drug trade as a chemist and manufacturer in order to settle his financial woes and leave money behind for his family. Knowing nothing about the drug trade, he enlisted the aid of Jesse Pinkman, to help manufacture and, more importantly, sell his meth. Walt, by means of a P2P cook utilizing methylamine, produced methamphetamine of unrivaled chemical purity and a distinctive blue color, which was christened "Blue Sky" by dealers and users alike and which instantly began to dominate the market thanks to its potency.
While initially heavily reluctant to use violence, Walt gradually came to see it as a necessity, and eventually developed into a ruthless drug lord motivated largely by vanity, ego, and greed. At the beginning of his new career, he and Jesse made mere thousands of dollars through street dealing, and were constantly met with failure. Following multiple tense, deadly partnerships with distributors Tuco Salamanca and Gustavo Fring that ended in their respective deaths, however, and with the help of Jesse, Gus's former enforcer Mike Ehrmantraut, and Lydia Rodarte-Quayle, Walt eventually became the head of his own drug empire: the largest methamphetamine manufacturing operation in US history, branching as far as Eastern Europe, and enlisting Skyler to help him launder the profits.
After accumulating over $80 million USD from his involvement in the drug trade, and following a resurgence in his cancer, Walt retired from the drug business permanently. However, shortly after, Hank accidentally stumbled upon a vital clue that led him to the realization that his own brother-in-law, Walt White, was in fact the famed drug kingpin that he had been chasing for a year: Heisenberg. Though Walt attempted to blackmail Hank by threatening to paint Hank as Heisenberg and himself as a victim of Hank, Hank was able to corner Walt with help from Jesse, who finally betrayed Walt after a devastating revelation. Walt fell into a trap when Jesse falsely threatened to burn his accumulated fortune, and Hank and his longtime DEA partner Steve Gomez finally arrested him. At the last minute, though, Jack Welker and his gang appeared, Walt having just minutes before called them to come save him from Jesse, who Walt had thought was alone and about to kill him. Walt pleaded with Jack, but could not stop him, and, following a large shootout, Steve was killed and Hank was executed. Walt had his entire fortune stolen by the gang, save for one barrel of money that Jack left him. Seething, with the rewards of all his drug efforts stolen and his brother-in-law dead, Walt betrayed Jesse to Jack, who, at Todd Alquist's request, took Jesse as a slave to cook meth for him and his gang.
Walt returned home and attempted to escape with his family, but Skyler and Walt Jr. resisted him, and, desperate, Walt left them, kidnapping Holly (though he later had her returned) and berating Skyler in a DEA-tapped phone call in an attempt to paint her as a victim and absolve her of any criminal guilt or suspicions. With his whole family and most law enforcement now against him, though, Walt went into hiding in New Hampshire with the help of a disappearer and remained in hiding for almost a year. Eventually, he returned to Albuquerque to both say farewell to Skyler and to give her the coordinates to Hank and Steve's undiscovered bodies so that she could strike a deal in court and get their family's life back, to settle an old dispute, and to ensure his family's financial security once and for all.

Alignment:Neutral Good in Season 1 (While Walter is willing to enter the meth business in order to make money, he mainly does so in order to provide money for his family so that they'll be able to live comfortably even after he dies. While he killed Emilio in the pilot episode, he only did so out of self defense, as he and Krazy-8 had threatened both his and Jesse's lives[1]. Even after Krazy-8 escaped from Walter's red phosphorous attack and was subsequently captured, Walter was unwilling to kill him due to his own moral standards, despite killing him being the most logical decision to make due to the threat Krazy-8 posed to Walter, Jesse, and both their respective families had he been let go, and was only able to bring himself to kill him after he figured out that Krazy-8 stole a large plate shard and was going to kill him with it after he had been released, even apologizing to him after strangling him to death[2]. Near the end of Season 1, after witnessing Tuco brutally beat and kill No-Doze, he made a vow to Jesse that there would be no more bloodshed involved in their work[3]), True Neutral in Seasons 2 and 3 (Despite showing himself as a good natured man throughout the first season, Walter would begin to further descend into villainy from there on out. Walter was willing to argue with a cop and get pepper sprayed after refusing to stay in his car[4]. Walter was also willing to break into his own house and stayed even after Skyler threatened to call the cops on him and reveal the truth [5]. Although this was technically not illegal, this shows how much Walter has changed. He later tried to beat up Ted for having sex with his wife and almost got arrested because of thisand tried to have sex with another women which caused him to get fired from his job as a teacher[6]. Mike even noted that Walt was mentally a disaster at the time.[7] While he and Jesse were justified in killing Tuco to free themselves and save their own lives, Walter would become increasingly more complacent with violence, to the point where he forced Jesse to killGale Boetticher, an otherwise completely innocent man, in order to save both of their lives, as Gus would no longer have a cook capable of producing Blue Sky meth if he killed Walter or Jesse at that point[8]. When he accidentally flipped overJanewhile trying to wake up Jesse, she began choking on her own vomit due to a heroin overdose, and Walter let her die, presumably either to save Jesse from becoming a heroin addict or so that he would have greater control over Jesse with her out of the picture, though he is still visibly shaken by his decision[9]. Letting Jane die indirectly caused the Wayfarer 515 disaster, as her death inflicted her father with PTSD and caused him to seize up during his job as a plane coordinator[10], and while Walter did not knowingly or willingly cause this, he tried to downplay the tragedy of the event during a school assembly when he was given the mic to state his thoughts, which would ultimately end up having the mic taken away from him due to the insensitive nature of his comments[11]), Neutral Evil in Seasons 4 and 5 (At some point in Season 4, Walter's motivation began to drift away from the desire to provide for his family and towards obtaining money and power. This is best exemplified by him poisoning Brock, an innocent 7 year old child, in order to manipulate Jesse into helping him kill Gus[12]. Walter had also constructed a bomb with which to kill Gus with, which he was justified in doing to protect his family, though he had no qualms with blowing up part of a nursing home just to carry out the plan when he was unable to kill Gus out in the open[13]. By Season 5, Walter had fully settled into his role as a villain, showing even less remorse for his actions and resorting to violence to resolve his problems. He was initially willing to kill two innocent men to rob a train before Jesse convinced him and Mike that they could pull off the heist without anyone finding out, and was quick to excuse Todd after he had shot and killed a child in cold blood for witnessing the end of their heist[14]. He shot and killed Mike after he insulted his ego and called him out on his pride getting in the way of his work, doing so both out of retaliation and to make sure that Mike would no longer be a problem for his operation[15]. He did not hesitate to place hits on and kill off all nine of Gus's former associates in order to prevent his operation from being potentially compromised by having them spill information to the DEA[16]. After Jesse had refused to talk with him and threatened him further after learning the truth about Brock, he had given up on protecting Jesse and was willing to have him killed to ensure his own safety, placing a hit on him through Jack Welker's gang[17]. After the shootout in the desert, he gave away Jesse's position to Jack's gang with the hopes that they would kill him, and gave his approval to do so after he had been caught. Even though Jack's gang ultimately did not kill Jesse so that they could use him as a slave to cook meth, Walter was fine with itand even told him that he watched Jane die to destroy his spirit and stop him from resisting while he was being carried away[18]. He was willing to harm his own wife and kidnap her baby in order to teach a lesson. While a argument could be made that this was technically self-defense as she pulled a knife on him, the latter had nothing to do with self-defense and he was directly insulting her and calling her a stupid bitch which is something the old Walter would have never done[19]. He was also willing to break into Elliot and Gretchen's house so that he could force them to launder his money to his family, tricking them into believing they were being targeted by hitmen to ensure that they would do it[20]. Despite all of this however, there is still some good left in Walter, as he still went out of his way to protect his family from any possible danger, refused to let Jack kill Hank even though he was a major obstacle for him at the time[21], and ultimately was able to make amends with Jesse and saved him from being a slave for Jack and his gang[22])
Genius Intelligence, Social Influencing (Walter is an extremely skilled manipulator, constantly pulling strings to get what he wants from other people and to hide his drug empire from those close to him. Constantly manipulates Jesse into doing what he needs, the biggest example being when he poisoned Brock in order to convince Jesse that Gus did it so he would be willing to help kill him, which succeeded even though Jesse was almost certain that it was Walter and was ready to kill him for it[40]. Walter was capable of tricking Emilio and Krazy-8 into thinking that he was going to teach him his recipe and ended up killing Emilio and knocking out Krazy-8 instead[41]. Manipulated Hank by throwing him off trails that would lead him back to his operation, which he had successfully done for over a year despite Hank being an experienced DEA agent and one of the best investigators on his team, and had even made a fake confession tape that he had planned to use to frame Hank for his drug empire so he could prevent Hank from exposing him to the DEA[42]. Convinced Gus to work with him to sell his meth, despite the fact that Gus is extremely cautious about who he deals business with and was initially unwilling to work with Walter since he saw him as too careless and thought that his loyalty to Jesse made him a hindrance[43]. Convinced Declan to become his distributor, despite the fact that he originally wanted to get the Blue Sky meth off the streets and was unwilling to compromise on the methylamine sale[44]), Preparation (With preparation, Walter is capable of producing various tools to harm others with, being able to construct an automated turret[45], a pipe bomb[46], synthesize fulminated mercury[47], and produce ricin[48]), Human Achievements (Walter is an extremely skilled chemist and considers himself to be the greatest meth cook in the entire country, with his Blue Sky meth reaching purity levels of up to 99.1%[49]), Explosion Manipulation via various explosives (Used a piece of fulminated mercury to damageTuco'soffice[50] and constructed a pipe bomb to kill Gus with[51]), Poison Manipulation via red phosphorous, ricin and Lily of the Valley (Threw red phosphorous into boiling water to create a toxic gas, which he used to incapacitateEmilioandKrazy-8[52]. Shown to be capable of producing ricin[53], and had seamlessly slipped it intoLydia'stea to kill her[54]. Poisoned Brock with a berry from a poisonous plant that he had potted in his backyard called "Lily of the Valley"[55]), Fragrance Manipulation via red phosphorous (Capable of producing a toxic gas by throwing red phosphorous into hot water[56]), Magnetism Manipulation via car magnets (Used a powerful magnet hooked up to 42 car batteries in order to destroy the evidence that was present on Gus's old laptop, which had been seized by the DEA and taken to a special facility for storage[57]), Acid Manipulation via hydrofluoric acid (Usually disposes of bodies by dissolving them in hydrofluoric acid[58]), Weapon Usage (Has wielded various guns across the series, a list of which can be found here)
Ruger LCR: A polymer-framed revolver. Walter bought one with the intention of using it to kill Gustavo Fring.
Ricin: Ricin is a poison that Walter White prepares twice. Even though it is not the fastest-acting method of killing, Walt prefers it because it leaves behind little or no trace of its use on a victim.
Optional Equipment
Smith & Wesson 4506: Walter was in brief possession of one after stealing it from its original owner, Krazy-8, though would later dispose of it by dissolving it in hydrofluoric acid.
Smith & Wesson M945: A .45 caliber semiautomatic pistol. Walter stole one from one of the rival dealers that killed Tomás and used it to execute him after he had ran him over.
M4A1 Carbine: An assault rifle. Walter briefly possesses one after he steals it from Tuco Salamanca.
M60: A gas-operated, air-cooled, belt-fed, general-purpose machine gun that fires from the open-bolt position and is chambered for the 7.62 mm NATO cartridge. Walter bought one from Lawson so that he could construct a turret with it, with the intention of wiping out the entirety of Jack Walker's gang.
2004 Pontiac Aztek: The Pontiac Aztek was Walter White's car. It has a faded factory paint job and is missing the factory alloy wheel on the drivers' rear corner, replaced with a far less attractive replacement steel wheel. This vehicle is notorious for being an under-achieving ‘crossover’ model, being neither a decent minivan, nor an SUV, and is also well-known for having an ugly, plastic appearance. In this sense it is a metaphor for Walter White's own life, having done research contributing to a Nobel Prize and helping found a now multi-billion dollar company in itself upstart years.
1964 Chevrolet C-10: The 1964 Chevrolet C-10 is the vehicle bought by Walter White from its original owner, Joseph Prado, after he ran out of gas in the middle of the desert.
2012 Chrysler 300 SRT-8: The Chrysler 300 SRT-8 is the car that Walter White leases for himself for his 51st birthday.
2009 Toyota Yaris: The Toyota Yaris was the rental car Walter White drove while his Pontiac Aztek was being repaired after he intentionally steered his car into oncoming traffic to avoid having to take Hank Schrader to the industrial laundry where the superlab was hidden
2011 Dodge Charger: The 2011 Dodge Charger is the car used by Walter White and Jesse Pinkman to meet Mike Ehrmantraut in Mexico after Gustavo Fring's death.
1977 Ford F-350: The Ford F-350 is the vehicle used by Walter, Jesse, and Mike to destroy evidence from Gus's laptop.
2007 Chevrolet Express: The 2007 Chevrolet Express is the van Walter White uses to hide his money in the desert.
1990 Volvo 240: The 1990 Volvo 240 is the car Walter White stole in order to return to Albuquerque from New Hampshire.
1977 Cadillac Sedan DeVille: The 1977 Cadillac Sedan DeVille was Walter White's car for the final day of his life. He returned to Albuquerque in this vehicle to tie up all the loose ends of his drug empire.
Blue Sky: Blue Sky (also known as Big Blue, Blue Magic, Fring's Blue, or simply Blue) was the street name coined for the notoriously potent and 99.1% chemically pure crystal methamphetamine manufactured by Walter White and Jesse Pinkman. There were a few temporary accomplices who helped Jesse and Walter cook with the blue meth formula: Gale Boetticher and Todd Alquist. Victor also apparently memorized the method to cook Blue Sky by watching Walt and Jesse, though he never finished the batch, and the purity was never measured.
Methamphetamine: Methamphetamine or meth (C10H15N) is a psychostimulant of the phenethylamine and amphetamine class of psychoactive drugs. The molecular formula indicates that each molecule contains 10 carbon atoms, 15 hydrogen atoms and one nitrogen atom.
Pseudoephedrine: Pseudoephedrine, also known as Pseudo or Sudo for short, is a chemical compound commonly found in anti-allergy medicines. It is also frequently used as the primary ingredient in the production of methamphetamine, which resulted in its use being heavily regulated by law.
Phosphine Gas: Phosphine Gas (PH3) is a deadly gas created by a mixture of red phosphorous and moisture in the presence of heat.
Hydrofluoric Acid: Hydrofluoric Acid (HF) is a solution of hydrogen fluoride in water. Hydrofluoric acid is a highly corrosive acid, capable of dissolving many materials, especially oxides. Because of its high reactivity toward glass and moderate reactivity toward many metals, hydrofluoric acid is usually stored in plastic containers (although polytetrafluoroethylene is slightly permeable to it).
Thermite: Thermite is a pyrotechnic combination of metal powder that, when ignited by heat, undergoes a exothermic-reduction oxidation reaction. In Breaking Bad, Walter White is seen making it with aluminum powder and powdered iron oxide.
Methylamine: Methylamine (CH3NH2) is an organic compound. The gas is a derivative of ammonia, but with one H atom replaced by a methyl group. It is the simplest primary amine. It is sold as a solution in methanol, ethanol, THF, and water, or as the anhydrous gas in pressurized metal containers.
Mercury(II) fulminate: Mercury(II) fulminate, or fulminated mercury is an explosive substance with the chemical formula Hg(CNO)2. The substance was used as an example of an explosive chemical by Walter White during chemistry class in the episode "Crazy Handful of Nothin'". A bagful of it looks like crystal meth. Later in that episode, he uses a finger sized crystal of it to blow up Tuco Salamanca's headquarters and uses a bagful of it to acquire $50,000 to cover the stolen pound of meth ($35,000) and injuries to Jesse Pinkman, and negotiate a sales agreement.
Mercury Battery: A mercury battery (also called mercuric oxide battery, or mercury cell) is a non-rechargeable electrochemical battery, a primary cell. In Breaking Bad, Walter White builds a mercury battery to jump start the RV when he and Jesse Pinkman were stranded on the desert for four days.
Diethyl Ether: Diethyl ether, also known as ethyl ether, sulfuric ether, simply ether, or ethoxyethane, is an organic compound in the ether class. Diethyl ether is a common laboratory solvent often used for liquid-liquid extractions (generally called solvent extractions).
Lily of the Valley: Convallaria majalis, commonly known as the Lily of the Valley, is a poisonous flowering plant found in New Mexico. It was frequently shown in Season 4 of Breaking Bad.
Pipe Bomb: A Pipe Bomb is an improvised explosive device which uses a tightly sealed section of pipe filled with an explosive material. The containment provided by the pipe means that simple low explosives can be used to produce a relatively large explosion due to the containment causing increased pressure, and the fragmentation of the pipe itself creates potentially lethal shrapnel.
Pink Teddy Bear Eye: The Pink Teddy Bear is an object from Wayfarer 515, the plane which crashed onto another in the air near Walter White's house. Seconds after the crash, the bear landed in Walter's pool. As a result of the plane explosion, the pink bear lost an eye and sustained a burn to its left side. The eye bobbed at the surface of Walter White's pool while the bear itself sank and was later fished out and put in an evidence bag by NTSB investigators. It likely belonged to a child onboard Wayfarer 515. Walt later finds the missing eye in the pool filter. He decides to keep it.
Other
Standard Tactics: Walter uses a mixture of stealth and shooting when he thinks someone is nearby but doesn't know where they are.
Weaknesses: While Walter is a very intelligent man, he is greatly hindered by his overwhelming sense of pride. This is reflected in many occurrences across the series, the most egregious of which being his refusal to join back Gray Matter Technologies and have Elliot and Gretchen pay for his treatment, despite the fact that accepting this deal would have allowed him to fully live out his life and provide for his family without having to resort to illicit means of income. Walter was diagnosed with lung cancer relatively early in the series, which can sometimes hinder him by causing him to cough uncontrollably, temporarily making him defenseless and giving away his position.
Trivia
Trivia about Walter
Walter is one of the only two characters who appear in every episode of Breaking Bad, the other being Jesse Pinkman.
Walter is the only character to have spoken dialogue in every episode, with Jesse having no dialogue in the episode "Buried".
Walter sold his share of Gray Matter to Elliot for $5,000, towards the end of the show, his share would be worth upwards of $720 million. This was inspired by the real-life story of Apple co-founder Ron Wayne selling his interest in Apple to Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs for $2,300, missing out on billions of dollars.
In 2016, Vince Gilligan finally revealed the true reason for why Walter left Gray Matter. He revealed that Walter left Gretchen and Gray Matter because he felt inferior to her and her wealthy family, thus confirming that his ego and pride were the reasons why.
Walter was born in 1958, because Jane Margolis' father mentions she was "twenty seven next month" and that her date of birth was April 1982, so the year is 2009. So "Pilot" takes place in 2008, since the most recent occurrence of Walt's birthday, in September, must have happened in the year before, and Walt turns 50. So then, "Fifty-One" takes place in 2009, and "Felina" in 2010. This is further confirmed by Vince Gilligan in an interview that Better Call Saul takes place "in 2002" and "6 years before Saul meets Walt White".
Bryan Cranston developed most of Walter's backstory, and also partially chose his attire. When he developed Walt's mustache, he said he wanted it to look like a dead mouse.
Walter's doctor told him he may live two years in the best scenario: He lived almost two years after his diagnosis, missing the 2-year mark by a single day.
Walter's gunshot wound in the finale is at his right side of his lung and is also on the opposite side of the same spot where he shot Mike.
Walter has killed (inadvertently or otherwise) 201 people (including himself).
Walter has the last on-screen death of the show.
Walter is 5'11" (180 cm) and 165-170 lbs (75–77 kg).
According to Aaron Paul's audition tape, Walter was originally supposed to be 41 years old.
