Background
Accelerated Development is the ability to where one grows at a much faster pace than a normal character in the setting is able to. This is normally through growth of statistics, abilities, intelligence, etcetera, allowing one to reap the fruits of their training with far less effort and time than most, with some characters improving their overall power effortlessly. Though it can also be a state of one having rapid evolution, otherwise that their own body is accelerating way faster then a normal species does (unlike Adaptation in this instance, the users natural existence accelerates this fast, without adapting to anything).
Types
The types of accelerated development can roughly be categorized by two properties:
Cause of Accelerated Development
- Training: The character increases in strength or ability from training, normally for this to constitute as accelerated development, the training would have to be in a short time period. One that wouldn't qualify is if the person has been training for decades and only slightly increased in strength.
- Battle: The characters development is faster than normal while battling, unlike Reactive Power Level in which the user adapts to the battle and evolves increasing dramatically over the course of the battle, an accelerated development user simply gains the ability to increase in strength through battling.
- Leveling: Usually used in RPG like settings. The character gains experience, resulting in increased statistics.
- Environmental: In this case this is for characters that have a rapid growth within their body, normally due to the environment they live in accelerating it past how fast a species usually grows.
- Passive: The character does not need to enact in any special form of training, battle, leveling, or environmental to grow, they simply always grow no matter what action or inaction they're doing.
- Other: Various other causes of accelerated growth are imaginable, such as use of items, and should be explained on the profiles if applicable.
Type of Developing Property
- Body: The users body undergoes a rapid growth, this can allow for other types in this section such as physical stats, intelligence, skill, or abilities to grow, but also allows one to mature far faster or undergo changes to their body that may allow them to adapt to an environment or situation in question.
- Physical Stats: The users strength, speed and/or durability grows at a faster pace than normal. This can be further separated by which of these statistics grow at a faster rate.
- Intelligence: The users intelligence grows at a rapid pace or it is able to quickly expand its knowledge through its high intelligence.
- Skill: The users skill grows, normally battle skills, making them a far more capable fighter.
- Abilities: The user can learn new skills and abilities, or improve and master them, at a much faster pace than normal.
- Other: Various other properties could develop at an accelerated rate or only very specific subsets of the above apply. Such cases should be explained on the profiles.
Limitations
- A character might have a maximum potential beyond which it can not grow.
Users
- Son Goku (Dragon Ball): As Goku trains he naturally grows stronger at a much faster rate then any of the earthlings. As an example, in the 21st World Martial Arts Tournament saga, Goku in a few months of training matched Master Roshi, one of the strongest Earthlings. Goku is able to increase his ki allowing him to mimic various attacks and gain access to abilities that even if teachers could not, such as how he was able to access Kaio-ken, which even King Kai couldn't access when he made the move itself.
- Medaka Kurokami (Medaka Box): Medaka going through battles made her abilities such as her recovery ability sky-rocket along with her not only surpass her strength when she finished training but also better then she was in her holden days.
- Kirby (Kirby): Kirby has shown various cases of getting stronger throughout multiple battles, in Epic Yarn he goes from taking 3 hits to defeat a boss to defeating said bosses in one blow. Kirby has gone from a single Dark Matter causing him to faint after battle, to being able to fight a Dark Matter along with fighting their leader Zero. Can defeat a clone of himself with the exact same copy ability along with hoards of his clones. It is noted by a Waddle Dee soldier that Kirby is good at every battle. Even with Dedede trying to increase the difficulty of the clones, with the machine making stronger Kirby's, he could keep beating the Kirby clones. Meta Knight notes that the Kirby clones are pathetic compared to Kirby. With Kirby then defeating Meta Knight in battle. Afterwards he beat King Dedede's strongest team by himself. Could fight and defeat Kirby clones while also fighting Dededestroyer Z.
