User:SuperSaiyan2Link/Titan's Mitt Lifts Boulder
In A Link Between Worlds, the Titan's Mitt item allows for Link to easily pick up and toss large boulders. So, let's see just how strong that really is.
This image will be used for reference:
Since the perspective of the game is so weird and skewed, I'll have to find the... depth? measurements of a person, as opposed to Link's height, in order to find the measurements of the boulder. The average depth of a person as shown here, is around 9½ inches, so I will be using that.
The diameter of the boulder comes out to 38 inches, or 3 feet and 2 inches. We're gonna find the volume of this boulder using the formula used for cylinders, since it most closely matches the shape of the boulder, and so in order to find the volume of a cylinder, we need both the radius and the height.
We already know the radius, since it is just the diameter halved, which would be 19 inches or 0.48 meters.
The height is basically impossible to accurately calculate, but we know that visually Link is right up close with the boulders, so I think it will be safe to simply use Link's own height. The average height for a young teenager is 61.4 inches, or 1.56 meters, so I'll go with that.
Radius = 0.48 meters
Height = 1.56 meters
Which means that:
Volume is 1.13 m^3
Next all we need is Density, and we'll be able to finally calculate mass. The density of sedimentary rock is something I don't need to calc, thankfully.
Density is 1600 kg/m^3
Using these two numbers, we can find the calculate the mass of the boulders that Link is able to casually lift and throw with the Titan's Mitt. Put it into the Mass Calculator, and we get...
Mass is 1808 kg, Class 5
