Background

Splatoon is a third-person shooter video game franchise created by Hisashi Nogami, and developed and owned by Nintendo. The series features fictional, anthropomorphic cephalopodic characters known as Inklings and Octolings, based on squids and octopus respectively, that transform between humanoid and cephalopod forms at will. They frequently engage in turf war battles with each other and use a variety of weapons that produce and shoot colored ink while in humanoid form, or swim and hide in surfaces covered in their own colored ink while in their cephalopodic forms.

The first game in the series, Splatoon, was released for the Wii U in May 2015. A sequel, Splatoon 2, was released for the Nintendo Switch in July 2017, followed by an expansion pack, Octo Expansion, in June 2018. The series has received positive reviews for its style, gameplay mechanics and soundtrack, with both games in the series having been nominated and awarded several year-end accolades from various gaming publications. The series has sold over 16 million copies. In February 2021, it was announced that a third game, titled Splatoon 3, is set to be released in 2022.

Splatoon has spawned numerous collaborations with third-party companies and established its own esports tournament circuit in 2018. It has spawned a manga series as well as music concerts in Japan. Despite still being a somewhat new IP, Splatoon has ended up to become one of the most successful and popular franchises of Nintendo.

Power of the Verse

The verse is somewhat weak with most of the verse being around Wall level to Building level in the games and Small Building level in the manga. Inklings and Octolings in the games are able to jump to space and reach Massively Hypersonic speeds while in the manga they can Super Jump at Supersonic+ speeds to catch fire. Mr. Grizz was going to coat the entire planet in Fuzzy Ooze. Characters such as Pearl and Commander Tartar have strong weapons that are to reach Multi Continental level and even having power to destroy the entire planet. Standard ink shots alone are able to seal opponents and objects within ink, and with sanitized ink , they can corrupt, mind manipulate, and make opponents undead. Inklings are extremely difficult to kill as they have Low-Godly Regeneration and can resurrect as long as their spawn point exists as their soul will always return to it. Their Spawn Points aren't easy to get rid of either as they have forcefields that are even immune to Pearl's Princess Cannon that overpowered the NILS Statue. Inklings are also very experienced in combat and participate in Turf Wars just for fun at only the age of 14. With Accelerated Development, Inklings such as the ones Team Blue are able to completely turn around a stomp despite their opponents being far stronger and more experienced then them. Agents are able to take on the Octarian army, defeat the Great Octoweapons and are even regarded as naturals and very skilled despite just starting off. Inklings have a ton of different abilities to stack on themselves along with a ton of Special, Sub, and Main Weapons they have mastered. Several Octolings are able to keep up and even surpass Inklings such as Agent 8 with sheer skill as shown in the Partially Sanitized Agent 3 fight. Even the fodder Octarians still have the good abilities of sanitized ink and sealing along with the entire verse resisting Space-Time Manipulation, Reality Warping, and Magnesium Manipulation. Commander Tartar is the insane mastermind AI that created sanitized ink and the entirely of Kamabo corporation which manages the entirety of Deepsea Metro. Tartar tricked thousands of test subjects to complete his test trials just to be blended alive and even sanitized until his plans were finally stopped by Agent 8. Several Salmonids also has access to several Special Weapons that are able to one shot Inklings.

Verse Scaling

Inklings and Octolings scale to Building level as their weapons can harm DJ Octavio who tanked an explosion at this level and can take hits from said weapons and each other. They can also scale to Massively Hypersonic speeds as they can Super Jump to space and can react to each other. Super Jumping in combat. The weaker characters such as salmonids should scale to regular Octotroopers who narratively break crates which is Wall level as New Agent 3's Little buddy Small Fry can defeat them. Manga characters scale to as Goggles who was able to perform a Small Building level and Supersonic+ speed feat here.
