Background

Amortality is a condition or ability that allows a being to exist indefinitely outside the normal cycle of life and death. Unlike true immortality, which generally implies a living being who cannot die from age or harm, Amortality means the user does not age or die because they were never born in a natural way or not born at all.

Some beings with Amortality are physically alive but unaging and immune to natural death. Others exist in a state of “unbirth,” never having truly lived in the conventional sense, so they cannot die through normal biological or spiritual means. Such beings may be resistant to life-force attacks, soul destruction, or death manipulation because they were never “born” in the ordinary way.

Also Called

  • Eternal Unbirth
  • Deathless Existence
  • Timeless Mortality
  • Unborn Immortality

Possible Applications

  • Remain ageless and unaffected by natural death or biological decay.
  • Resist abilities that manipulate life force, aging, or death directly.
  • Exist as an idea or concept, making physical destruction difficult.
  • Bypass normal biological needs such as hunger or sleep.
  • Act as a being beyond traditional existence, untethered to linear time.

Practical Uses

  • Effective for surviving in hostile or reality-warped environments.
  • Difficult to permanently destroy without high-level conceptual or existence manipulation.
  • May linger indefinitely, acting as a constant influence or threat.
  • Can maintain knowledge and identity without fear of decay or death.
  • Useful for beings tied to cosmic or abstract domains.

Possible Limitations

  • May still be vulnerable to attacks in general depending on the interpretation of Amortality in the fiction.
  • May be bound by specific conditions or weaknesses unique to their nature.
  • Some forms may cause isolation or detachment from beings that exist normally.
  • Unborn beings may be unable to interact physically with the world without additional abilities.
