For characters who are black males, a socially constructed racial category often based on politics and skin tone, typically referring to groups with medium to dark brown complexions. However, not everyone labeled "black" has dark skin. In many Western societies, the term is applied to those considered darker-skinned relative to others, regardless of actual ancestry. It most commonly refers to people of sub-Saharan African descent, Indigenous Australians, and Melanesians, though it's also been used for other groups in various contexts. The term does not indicate close genetic ties, and in many Indigenous African cultures, "black" is not used as a racial identity unless influenced by Western concepts.
