Category:Latin American Characters
This category includes characters who are of Latin American descent, originating from Latin America, or are culturally or thematically rooted in Latin America backgrounds.
Latin America (Spanish and Portuguese: América Latina; French: Amérique Latine) is a cultural region in the Americas where Romance languages are primarily spoken, mainly Spanish and Portuguese. Haiti is an exception, with French and Haitian Creole as official languages—the latter influenced heavily by West African languages, particularly Kongo. Latin America is defined by cultural identity rather than geography, encompassing countries in both North and South America, including Mexico, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean. The term typically refers to Hispanic America plus Brazil. Related terms include Hispanic America, which covers only Spanish-speaking nations, and Ibero-America, which includes all Iberian countries in the Americas and occasionally European nations like Spain, Portugal, and Andorra. English- and Dutch-speaking countries in the region, such as Suriname, Guyana, the Falkland Islands, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, and Belize, are generally excluded.
