| “ | Perhaps it is because I am a man. Perhaps it is because I was raised to fight. I enjoy the practice of my art. I find pleasure in the battle victorious. And the stronger I become... The more strongly the call to arms sounds within my ears. I want to see how great is the skill that I have acquired. It may be crass and low, but I cannot deny it. | „ | |
| ~ Ephraim to Eirika |
Background
Ephraim is the main protagonist of Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, alongside his sister Eirika. The exalted Prince of Renais, and the son of the peerless warrior King Fado, Ephraim grew up a warrior trained in combat with a lance. Ephraim was responsible for his sister's combative training, and hails himself more as a fighter than he does a Prince.
When the Grado Empire launched its attack on the Kingdom of Renais, Ephraim was the first to respond, by immediately taking a small group with him to launch a campaign against them. Eventually, Ephraim learns that his good friend, Prince Lyon of Grado, had been overtaken by the Demon King Fomortiis. Learning of this, Ephraim turns to the power of the Sacred Stones in an attempt to subdue and save his friend.
