Background
Forspoken is an open-world action role-playing game developed by Luminous Productions and published by Square Enix. It launched globally on January 24, 2023, for PlayStation 5 and PC platforms, including Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the Windows Store. The game was directed by Takeshi Aramaki and Takefumi Terada, with Gary Whitta contributing to the world and lore concepts, Amy Hennig developing the story concept, and Allison Rymer and Todd Stashwick writing the script.
Synopsis
Frey Holland is a tough, streetwise young woman from New York City who has endured a difficult upbringing. As her 21st birthday approaches, her life remains uncertain—until she’s unexpectedly transported to Athia, a world where both wonders and horrors exist. Taking on the role of Frey, players must master magical powers to survive the hostile creatures roaming the land. To find a way back home, Frey must also face the Tantas—powerful and corrupted rulers who hold control over Athia.
