Fungus Manipulation
From The Codex

Background
Fungus Manipulation is the power to manipulate fungi. A specialized form of Organic Manipulation and a potential sub-category of Plant Manipulation, this ability grants users control over fungal organisms, including mushrooms, molds, and yeasts.
Fungi, distinct from plants and animals, play vital ecological roles such as decomposition and symbiosis. Users of this power can generate or manipulate fungi in various forms, whether using them as a weapon, tool, or communicative medium. The ability can manifest through mystical, biological, or technological means depending on the context and user.
Also Called
- Mycokinesis
- Fungal Control
- Mycology Manipulation
Possible Applications
- Generate, grow, or spread fungi across surfaces, objects, or environments.
- Shape fungi into functional forms:
- Weapons (spore spikes, tendrils, lashers)
- Armor or shielding
- Mobile constructs or fungal entities that act semi-autonomously
- Create fungal-based attacks, such as spreading corrosive mold, infective spores, or projectile mushrooms.
- Emit spores for various effects:
- Toxic clouds, paralyzing agents, or sleep-inducing effects
- Hallucinogenic spore mists
- Reproductive clouds that rapidly infest an area
- Induce decomposition by accelerating fungal decay in organic matter.
- Manipulate or enhance the genetic structure of fungi:
- Mutate fungi for utility, danger, or mobility
- Generate glowing, armored, or intelligent fungal hybrids
- Detect presence or movement using mycelium networks (akin to seismic sensing or radar)
- Communicate with or through fungi across distances, possibly gaining limited Omnilingualism with fungal entities
- Create fungal miasma or airborne clouds for defense or crowd control
Practical Uses
- Grow fungi in hazardous terrain to break down waste or generate biomass
- Create living fortifications or barriers made of durable mushroom structures
- Employ fungal stealth by using decomposers to erase tracks or consume remains
- Release spores in enclosed spaces for non-lethal takedowns
- Use fungi to incapacitate enemies through hallucinations or paralysis
- Animate fungal masses to serve as minions or assistants in labor or combat
- Generate fungal materials for construction, healing, or crafting in survival situations
Variations
- Spore Manipulation: Specialized focus on the control, generation, or alteration of spores for offense or infection.
- Fungal Mutation: Genetic enhancement or corruption of fungi into hybrid or monstrous forms.
- Symbiotic Fungi: Fungi that live within or on a host, altering physiology or enhancing physical/mental traits.
- Fungal Animation: Bringing inert fungi to life, creating walking or reactive fungal entities.
Possible Limitations
- May be unable to create fungi, relying on existing environmental biomass to grow them.
- Control may be limited to particular fungal types or strains.
- The rate of fungal spread or growth may be influenced by external conditions like humidity, temperature, or decay.
- Fungal constructs are often fragile unless reinforced or mutated.
- Fungi may be vulnerable to heat, fire, sterilization, or dry environments.
- Excessive use of spores could harm allies or the user without proper immunities or gear.
