Impostor (Among Us)

From The Codex
Keep your eyes peeled, we definitely have an Impostor here...
Objective: Kill off the crew.

Background

The Impostor is the main antagonist and role of Among Us. In the game, they take the role of a shape-shifting alien who is intended on murdering the crew of four distinct places. These places are the Skeld, a spaceship that the Impostor has got on in some unknown way, and is intended on either killing all crewmates or destroying the spaceship to stop the travel to the planet Earth. Despite this, the Impostor has shown to have gotten onto the planet Earth, now in Mira HQ. Mira HQ is a large building where the crewmates work in, and they are unaware of the presence of an Impostor in their HQ. Afterwards, it seems they also travel to another planet known as Polus, a snow-covered planet roamed by the crewmate as well, where they work and live at. As well as these three locations, the Impostor makes it to the Airship, where a criminal empire known as the Toppat Clan (Originally from the Henry Stickmin series) resides. The intent of being on the Airship is not known, other than the Impostor sabotaging and/or bringing down the organization.

Codex Statistics

Tier: 9-C

Cardinality: Finite

Dimensionality: 3-D

Attack Potency: Bone level (Bodies in Among Us only have one bone, and are only 3'6. The Impostor can rip these bodies in half. The Impostor also tore a bathroom door off it's hinges, and it would be implied to have broke the toilet as well. They created most of the hole/vent locations in the Polus map, though the time frame is unknown)

Durability: Bone level

Striking Strength: Above Average Human Class (Can knock down Crewmates)

Lifting Strength: Superhuman (The holes in Polus show that the Impostor tore off the vents, broke the hinges of a bathroom stall, and created the holes in the map, can push crewmates and snap their neck with ease)

Travel Speed: Athletic Human, Higher with digging and vent travel (Notably, they can dig and move in vents faster than they can walk, regardless of any changes to it's speed)

Attack Speed: Athletic Human (Crewmates can’t react before they kill them. The Impostor disappears after killing someone for a second and reappears by the dead body, so they should be somewhat faster than they can perceive in combat), Transonic with Pistol, Higher with lasers (Shown to be comparable, if not faster, than the Impostor's gun)

Reaction Speed: Athletic Human

Stamina: Peak Human (Scaling to Crewmates who are astronauts. Can survive in lava for a few seconds similar to crewmates)

Range: Extended Melee (via Report, Tongue and higher kill ranges), tens of meters (via their laser), Hundreds of Meters with their pistol, Report and Sabotage, likely Far Higher

Intelligence: Above Average Intelligence (They can outsmart the Crewmates and is capable of sneaking around without worry. They can sabotage electronics very easily despite how advanced they are)

Powers and Techniques

Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Enhanced Senses (They can see in the dark and have sight that is superior to that of the Crewmates), Weapon Usage, Body Control, Shapeshifting (They are described as a shapeshifter), possibly Dimensional Storage (As shown with their gun), Social Influencing (The main mechanic of Among Us is the Impostor convincing other Crewmates that they're innocent or even getting others killed, causing a meeting will stop others from doing things such as killing one another or doing tasks), Technological Manipulation (They can sabotage advanced spaceship, technology built and stolen by a notable criminal organization, and interplanetary base technology, can overheat reactors, and can completely nullify sound waves, communications, and technology that can detect living things), Burrowing (As seen here, they create holes in the ground to travel around Polus).

Resistance to Cold Temperatures (They can roam icy planets) and Extreme Heats (They can stand near lava)

Equipment

Pistol

Optional Equipment: Right Hand Man outfit

Notable Techniques

  • Gun: A glock loaded with a full clip. Usually used to finish kills after pushing down a character.
  • Tongue: Their tongue is a key weapon that they use in combat, allowing them to penetrate right through skulls.
  • Laser: Their laser is one of their strongest attacks. This allows them to launch a devastating beam that goes right through crewmates, completely incinerating half of their body right down to the bone against Crewmates.
  • Sabotage: Allows the Impostor to manipulate technology and similar objects. It allows them to incapacitate, disable lights, or cause explosions in a meltdown of the reactor or electronics.
  • Vent: Impostor can “Vent” to sneak around, and can be used for digging.
  • Report/Emergency Meeting: Gathers all people around an area if the Impostor finds a dead body or triggers a meeting, generally used with Social Influencing.

Other

Standard Tactics: The Impostor will generally lead with their tongue (for up-close combat), or punching their opponent and shooting them in the back of the head (for sneak attacks or when they're behind an opponent). If they are unable to use their tongue for whatever reason, they will use their gun, shooting their head. If they are unable to use their gun for whatever reason, they will snap their neck. If allowed to, they will start with an emergency meeting to vote out their opponent, as well as stop them from attacking the Impostor to find out a way to attack them and/or using social influencing to pacify their victims before killing them with a sneak attack. If their opponent is far away and out of range of their basic attacks, they will dig in the ground (or vent) and find a secure place to sabotage them (if there is any technology in their way) or digging over to their opponent and firing their gun. If any of this is impossible, they walk over casually while trying to use other forms of sabotages to stop their opponent from moving or attacking the Impostor. If they have their laser, they will instead use it over their other options, though if they cannot use their laser, they use their gun. Sabotages are generally the Impostor's effort to hide an attack, divert attention, or stop an opponent from using their weaponry, | The Impostor floats around and spamming sabotages, generally against important devices, in order to get a kill. Otherwise, wildcard.

Weaknesses: Most of it's abilities and weaponry are close-ranged.

Note: Report is combat applicable as it is sound based and is social influencing. Emergency Meeting is somewhat inapplicable for combat unless the Impostor has access to a button or homefield advantage to Mira HQ, Polus or the Skeld.

Note 2: The Impostor is required to open a menu in order to sabotage, though this is generally negated as he will usually be able to do this in secret.
