Background

Luca Blight is a the mad Prince of Highland, and later King of Highland, who serves as the secondary main antagonist of Suikoden II. Hell-bent on ruthlessly killing every citizen of the City-States of Jowston, Luca devises plan after plan to methodically burn down as many enemy cities as he possibly can. In order to do this, he attempts to unleash the wicked power of the Beast Rune.

Luca was born the first child and prince of the peaceful King Agares Blight, in the Kingdom of Highland. Although he initially lived a peaceful life alongside his father, an unexpected war changed everything. As King Agares cowered in fear, a soldier infiltrated the castle and raped Luca's mother, Queen Sara Blight, right in front of his eyes. This horrifying act is what birthed Luca's illegitimate little sister, Jilia Blight. This event made Luca feel as though he and his mother were given the greatest dishonor they could receive, while his cowardly father did nothing to stop it. Luca greatly hated his father and, especially after the death of his mother, was driven crazy. Luca sought the complete destruction of the City-States of Jowston, which spawned out of the hatred for the man who defiled his mother. With his own blade, he wished to kill every last man, woman, and child who opposed him. As he grew older, Luca devised a plan to sign a peace treaty with the City-States, and then massacre his own men to pin on the City-States and act as though they broke the peace treaty. This plan worked, framing the City States for the massacre and riling up the people of Highland into engaging in war. The war lasted an incredibly long time, and resulted in the deaths of thousands at Luca's own hands. All the while, Luca planned on releasing one of the 27 True Runes, the Beast Rune, upon the people of the City States in order to kill them and consume their souls. Unfortunately, at every turn, Luca found himself be foiled by the young leader of the New-State army, Riou. While being pursued by Riou, and secretly sabotaged from his brother-in-law Jowy Atreides, Luca's plans began to fall apart. During a what was supposed to be a secret night raid on Riou's Dunan Castle, Luca's army were ambushed by the New-State Army, and dozens of his troops were slaughtered. After being shot dozens of times with arrows and fought by many key members of Riou's party, Luca charged at Riou himself. With one decisive blow, Riou struck down the Mad King, who gave a crazed speech upon his death. With Luca Blight finally killed, his title as King of Highland was given to his Jowy Atreides, who continued the war in service of his own goals.

Notable Techniques

• Flaming Arrows: Even without a Fire Rune, Luca can manipulate fire in order to use Flaming Arrows. This creates a trail of fire to burn the opponent. He can also use this to light his sword on fire for attacks.

Weaknesses: Luca is extremely arrogant and overconfident, believing that he cannot be defeated. He has been tricked before, such as when he was lead to releasing fireflies from a locket that gave off light and revealed his location to the enemy.
