Sonic.EXE is the main antagonist of Sonic.EXE - The Game and is an entity that inhabits a sole CD disc that contains an executable file for Sonic the Hedgehog. His purpose is unknown, but he seeks out the souls of those who play his game, so he can play and toy with them for as long as he desires.

Sonic.EXE is an entity that possess the same body as Sonic the Hedgehog from the classic Sonic games that spanned the Sega Genesis. He possesses a cocky attitude and has black scleras with red glowing pupils and blood dripping from out of his eyes.

He possesses the same face as Sonic the Hedgehog with the exception of his eyes being black with red glowing pupils, blood dripping out of his eyes, and sometimes depicted with yellow teeth. His smile is usually that of a malicious sadist.

Upon completion of the game, X jumpscares the player, taking their souls and locking them away in his game.

By breaking the rules of the game by going left instead of right as each character, the player will proceed to be in a different area which upon completion will spawn a black ring that greatly angers X, showcasing limitations in his control of the game.

• This fangame is what helped popularize Sonic.EXE due to being one of the first fangames produced based on the creepypasta and playing very close to the original story.
• The mention of Kyle by X in the 'True Ending' could imply that the player is taking the role of Tom from the original Sonic.EXE creepypasta.
• While the creator did make a sequel to this fangame (Sally.EXE), due to finding out that creepypasta he based the game on was a rip-off of a pre-existing horror Sonic video (not necessarily related to Sonic.EXE), he decided to abandon the project. Regardless, on the game's description, it refered to Sonic.EXE as a 'spiritual predecessor', making it disconnected from the original with its own canon.
