Forum - The Legendary Saiyan vs the Chimera Fly: Broly (DBZ) vs. Cell

Fully analyzing this fight requires looking into the showings and how they did against specific era of Dragon Ball characters. While if we go by pure narrative they would just tie or stalemate much like many of the Xenoverse crossover fights, going by pure showings, it seems Cell takes this over Broly for the following reasons:

-Goku and Gohan were not mastered super saiyans during the Broly movie, this is apparent from the fact that they did not keep the super saiyan state up during the point of this movie and reverted to base several times. It has also been shown with movies like Lord Slug that Goku can go through the events of a saga without obtaining the forms, aka he never went Super Saiyan on namek from the implications of the Lord Slug movie.
-Broly has an issue of his ki keeps leaking so he has to explode it out, he genuinely cannot contain the massive ki within him.
-Broly likes to drag fights out far more then Cell, as an example, Cell vs. Trunks, he was ready to kill Trunks if Trunks never brought up that they could get much stronger, and if Cell is getting beaten too badly he'll opt for self-destructing to take the whole planet which will 100% kill Broly as it was implied it would kill SSJ2 Gohan and Broly died in one hit to a Goku amplified by the ki of a near dead base Gohan, Piccolo, base Trunks, and base Vegeta. Definitely not something stronger then SSJ2 Gohan as we've seen absorbing others ki doesn't immensely amplify one.

Some potential counter arguments is Broly facetanked Goku's kamehameha while Cell's body got ripped apart but I wouldn't consider these the same due to how charged blasts work.

But as far as I see the way it's treated, especially since this is SBA, SSJ2 Teen Gohan >= Super Perfect Cell > Perfect Cell > SSJ1 Mastered Teen Gohan. Meanwhile Broly is > SSJ1 Teen Gohan.

If you want another example for Broly's strength difference, Pre-Great Saiyaman Saga SSJ1 Gohan can actually push him back with attacks, which mind you this Gohan is noted to be a far cry from himself from the Cell Saga and this is before he started training again for the 25th Budokai (which even after this training he was still noted to be far weaker then his Cell Saga self). Base Gohan can even do it too.

And the final catalyst. Goku viewed that he only needed to use super saiyan to beat Broly. Which mind you that SSJ2 Goku is the one that's considered stronger then Gohan when he fought Cell.

It should be noted too that second coming Broly is stronger then the first movie Broly.

If you want to go by alternate media, Broly was about to get demolished by Goku unlocking SSJ2 in Burst Limit.

While Cell isn't outright as strong as a SSJ2 he can at least injure Gohan's arm badly enough to make him drop half of his power (as Gohan needed to shield Vegeta from a blast).

So giving it to Cell via being shown to be roughly able to harm a SSJ2 while Broly has still not shown to truly be able to go through a SSJ1 and any media that introduces SSJ2 to him shows him get unbelievably scared and stomped.
