Jonathan took the chance to be apart of a private scientific experiment to be able to study all possible universes and even choose them. When the experiment went through it seemed to work with the first reset, but then John realized that in all the possible universes he can see, he saw the worst parts of himself, parts he didn't wish to see, fracturing his mind. Eventually he became aware of a magnitude of universes bearing down on him and that he would have to live through every single one, making his mind slip and fade into the abyss before resetting one more time.

The Machine

• Description: The machine is described as one of the most expensive private scientific investments in the world. Its aim was to open a human being's mind and allow them to perceive one of the spatial dimensions above the mediocre three.
• Usage: Used by Jonathan Felix. Electrodes are affixed to the user's skull, and the user reclines in a chair that becomes a flat table. A large rotating dome lowers down to encompass the user's entire body. Inside the dome is a complex crystalline structure lining the inside.
• Function: The suspected result was that the individual would be able to study all possible universes that could be created from his actions, and then choose the one that he wished to follow. During activation, the crystals morph in ways the mind cannot understand. The user's sight is filled with explosions of light, and their body starts to spasm.
