Summary

The Magicians is an American-produced fictional show that airs on Syfy and is based on the novel of the same name by Lev Grossman. The narrative follows the trope of the concept of Magic being utilized for many purposes in the universe, unbeknownst to mortals. Similarities to the Harry Potter series are quite abundant for the inspiration of creation of the series, leading to settings that are familiar to many.

Both renditions of the story follow a group of young adults, most notably, Quentin Coldwater, in their attempts to attend Brakebills University for the learning of Magic. At this school, they are able to witness and train in learning different types of Magic such as Battle Magic, Alchemy, and Curses. However, there is a turn of events when the existence of a Multiverse and the thought to be fictional world of Fillory are all a truth. Additionally, there have been many timelines in the past with Jane Chatwin creating them in an attempt to defeat the Beast. Current conditions are the last timeline as Jane was promptly killed to stop interfering with any other temporal affairs.

There is a notable distinction between the continuity of the books and the TV Show, however, such as Kady Orloff-Diaz being a character exclusive to the televised counterpart as an amalgamation of two other characters from the novelization, being Amanda Orloff and Asmodeus. As such, both continuities are treated as separate from one another, with notable similarities amidst between them.
