In many fictional worlds, characters possess extraordinary powers that can shape reality, manipulate forces, or transcend physical limits. However, equally powerful abilities exist that allow individuals to suppress, nullify, or bypass these very powers. These abilities are essential for countering overwhelming force, creating balance, and outmaneuvering opponents. Whether through suppression, which limits or diminishes abilities; nullification, which completely negates them; or bypassing, which ignores these limits altogether, these techniques give users the ultimate edge in battle. This page explores the various forms and applications of these overriding powers, providing examples of their use and detailing their significance in different contexts.

Nullification
Nullification, also known as Negation is the ability to negate or to nullify various different aspects of a person. The user can negate the effects and existence of something, whether it be power, a being, energy, an element, etcetera. Some Users can achieve these effects through applications of other powers in the form of negation. Such as Information Manipulation or Reality Warping to remove their abilities.

Example Applications
The ability to nullify attacks, this allows one at higher levels to be completely invulnerable or immutable to attacks. This could also make a character unable to at all act, using a turn based RPG as an example, this would make a user unable to take their turn and attack.

Defense Nullification or Durability Negation is the ability that enable users to damage the target, regardless of its durability. In particular, allows inflicting serious damage to a very strong opponent, even in the absence of astronomical attack power. A good example of ignoring force would be a laser that, with negligible attack power, easily cuts thick steel sheets. This can be done through various ways such as:

The ability to nullify statuses whether good or bad. This can nullify offensive or defensive statuses that raises a users stats, grants them a resistance, or changes something regarding their current state in their battle. This negation normally reverts them back to what they were back at the start of the fight, though it varies greatly on use.
*Users:
Regeneration Negation
Regeneration Negation is the ability to negate the regeneration of other beings and essentially render others more vulnerable to damage. Users who deal lethal attacks to others will place their victims in critical conditions due to the victim's body being unable to heal the damage. A similar ability to this is Irreversible Damage, though regeneration negation merely makes the person unable to regenerate back from injuries while irreversible damage makes it where damages can never be healed back and transfers to other immoralities.
Applications
*Holy: Characters that can negate regeneration through the use of holy weaponry, depending on the verse this could only work on the undead/evil species or can even extend to allow them to negate anyone's regeneration (As this is normally through spiritual means as it's holy based, this would be affect even into the godly regenerations).

*Exorcism: Similar to holy, this directly affects possessed and demonic type beings (As this is normally through spiritual means as it's holy based, this would be affect even into the godly regenerations).

*Biological: Characters can negate regeneration on a biological level (This would encase everything up to High regeneration).

*Mechanical: Characters can negate regeneration that is done through mechanical means (This would only work mostly on machine-specific regeneration).

*Magic: Characters can negate regeneration through their magical-based powers (This would vary from verse to verse and should be specify the potency it does).

*Existence: This is regeneration negation where one's existence naturally can ignore the regeneration of users, a famous case being werewolves bites being able to overcome vampire regeneration. In cases like this, it would vary from verse to verse on what the potency of this is.

*Metaphysical/Conceptual/Abstract: Characters can negate regeneration that are done through metaphysical means (Everything up to Mid-Godly would be affected by this).

*Atemporal/Temporal: Characters can negate regeneration that is done through temporal/atemporal means (This would affect any type of regeneration).

*Limited: This goes over if the regeneration negation has shown an actual limit in series to the regeneration level it can affect, for these ones would have a direct stated or shown limit.

Immortality Negation
Immortality Negation is the ability where the user can negate the immortality of others rendering them killable. This can be done through various different methods, such as being able to age an eternal being, killing someone unbound by the concept of death, negation one's regeneration entirety, killing someone despite them being reliant on a source, etcetera.

Resurrection Negation
The user can negate resurrection, ensuring that they cannot use abilities to resurrect back themselves or a target.
*Users:

Physiology Nullification
The ability to negate physiologies, characters with physiologies such as Acausality, Personal Nonexistence, Nondualism, Transcendence, etcetera are examples of what can be negated. This ability varies greatly depending on what's shown in the verse and being able to negate one physiology does not mean one can negate a completely different physiology in many cases.
*Users: Observation Users (Megami Tensei)

Bypassing/Ignoring
Bypassing/Ignoring is the ability to outright overpower/ignore an ability or one's statistics. In this case, one isn't removing or suppressing one's statistics, physiology, or ability, but instead ignores/overpowers it just because the character decides to. This can normally be seen grouped up with abilities like Subjective Reality, as it effectively makes the character fully ignore what the user is doing.
Example Applications
*Immortality Bypassing: The user can overcome another user's immortality to kill them for good. Unlike Immortality Negation, this ability does not remove the user's immortality, as they still have it, but the user in question was able to ignore their immortality completely to kill them.

*Regeneration Bypassing: The user can overcome another users regeneration. Unlike Immortality Negation, this ability does not remove the user's regeneration, as they still have it, but the user in question was able to ignore their regeneration completely to kill them. For example, say someone has cut off the user's arm, they will be able to regenerate their arm back, showing they still can regenerate, however, their arm will still not function due to the person ignoring their regeneration as a whole. Another example is when the person grows back their arm but the arm crumbles away or turns to dust, showing the regeneration has not been negated, but the injury will keep repeating itself. This ability is similar to Irreversible Damage, however it only pertains to bypassing regeneration.

*Acausality Bypassing: The user can overcome ones acausality. Making it that despite them existing in a state outside of causality, they still attack them as if they were in regular causality. This doesn't negate the opponent's acausality as they are still outside of cause and effect, but the user in question simply ignores it.

*Paradox Existence Bypassing: The user can interact with one even though they are living paradox. This doesn't negate the opponent's physiology as they are still a paradox, but the user in question simply ignores it.

Introduction

Suppression

Suppression is the ability to suppress physical attributes or abilities, at higher levels Suppression can fully nullify physical attributes or abilities, or bypass/ignore physical attributes or abilities altogether.

Types

Statistics Suppression

Users can suppress their own or others physical statistics to much lower levels. This includes the ability for a character to exert significantly less power than they usually would, typically so that they can hold back against characters of a much lower tier, as well as the ability to suppress other statistics such as durability and speed.

Ability Suppression

Users can suppress their own or others' abilities, either by suppressing their potency or completely disabling them.

Area of Effect Suppression

Users can limit the area of effect that their or others attacks or abilities have. This is typically used by powerful characters who try to avoid destroying their environment by focusing it into a desired area of effect.

    • Examples: PSI users from MOTHER

Energy Suppression

Similar to Statistics Suppression and Ability Suppression, the user suppresses their own energy or others energy, being able to normally disperse it.

Regeneration Suppression

Users can slow down or limit the regeneration of a character, instead of fully removing it or bypassing it, users in this case can slow it down, making the user unable to fully use it.

Power Nullification

The ability to nullify various powers and abilities an opponent has. This can be on a weaker scale where it only negates powers weaker then theirs.

Attack Nullification

The ability to nullify attacks, this allows one at higher levels to be completely invulnerable or immutable to attacks. This could also make a character unable to at all act, using a turn based RPG as an example, this would make a user unable to take their turn and attack.

Defense Nullification

Lavos' Demon Star halves a targets HP regardless of their defense

Defense Nullification or Durability Negation is the ability that enable users to damage the target, regardless of its durability. In particular, allows inflicting serious damage to a very strong opponent, even in the absence of astronomical attack power. A good example of ignoring force would be a laser that, with negligible attack power, easily cuts thick steel sheets. This can be done through various ways such as:

Status Nullification

The ability to nullify statuses whether good or bad. This can nullify offensive or defensive statuses that raises a users stats, grants them a resistance, or changes something regarding their current state in their battle. This negation normally reverts them back to what they were back at the start of the fight, though it varies greatly on use.

  • Users:

Regeneration Negation

Regeneration Negation is the ability to negate the regeneration of other beings and essentially render others more vulnerable to damage. Users who deal lethal attacks to others will place their victims in critical conditions due to the victim's body being unable to heal the damage. A similar ability to this is Irreversible Damage, though regeneration negation merely makes the person unable to regenerate back from injuries while irreversible damage makes it where damages can never be healed back and transfers to other immoralities.

Applications
  • Holy: Characters that can negate regeneration through the use of holy weaponry, depending on the verse this could only work on the undead/evil species or can even extend to allow them to negate anyone's regeneration (As this is normally through spiritual means as it's holy based, this would be affect even into the godly regenerations).
  • Exorcism: Similar to holy, this directly affects possessed and demonic type beings (As this is normally through spiritual means as it's holy based, this would be affect even into the godly regenerations).
  • Biological: Characters can negate regeneration on a biological level (This would encase everything up to High regeneration).
  • Mechanical: Characters can negate regeneration that is done through mechanical means (This would only work mostly on machine-specific regeneration).
  • Magic: Characters can negate regeneration through their magical-based powers (This would vary from verse to verse and should be specify the potency it does).
  • Existence: This is regeneration negation where one's existence naturally can ignore the regeneration of users, a famous case being werewolves bites being able to overcome vampire regeneration. In cases like this, it would vary from verse to verse on what the potency of this is.
  • Metaphysical/Conceptual/Abstract: Characters can negate regeneration that are done through metaphysical means (Everything up to Mid-Godly would be affected by this).
  • Atemporal/Temporal: Characters can negate regeneration that is done through temporal/atemporal means (This would affect any type of regeneration).
  • Limited: This goes over if the regeneration negation has shown an actual limit in series to the regeneration level it can affect, for these ones would have a direct stated or shown limit.

Immortality Negation

Baby Hercules drinking the potion makes lose his godly immortality.

  • Users:

Physiology Nullification

The ability to negate physiologies, characters with physiologies such as Acausality, Personal Nonexistence, Nondualism, Transcendence, etcetera are examples of what can be negated. This ability varies greatly depending on what's shown in the verse and being able to negate one physiology does not mean one can negate a completely different physiology in many cases.

  • Immortality Bypassing: The user can overcome another user's immortality to kill them for good. Unlike Immortality Negation, this ability does not remove the user's immortality, as they still have it, but the user in question was able to ignore their immortality completely to kill them.
  • Regeneration Bypassing: The user can overcome another users regeneration.
  • Acausality Bypassing: The user can overcome ones acausality. Making it that despite them existing in a state outside of causality, they still attack them as if they were in regular causality. This doesn't negate the opponent's acausality as they are still outside of cause and effect, but the user in question simply ignores it.
  • Paradox Existence Bypassing: The user can interact with one even though they are living paradox. This doesn't negate the opponent's physiology as they are still a paradox, but the user in question simply ignores it.
