Notable Techniques

• Close Quarters Battle: Close Quarters Battle (CQB) is a close quarters fighting style that centers around using hand to hand combat and small arms for limited space combat. This fighting style was developed by the SAS and is what Close Quarters Combat (CQC) has derived from. The weapons used in QQB include stun grenades, hand grenades, submachine guns, pistols, and knives. Techniques in CQB includes hitting an enemy with a combo of punches and kicks, throwing an enemy on their back after grabbing them, placing them into a chock hold, and knocking them down by rolling into them, along with scanning the area to find and target enemy personal. Solid Snake is an expert in this fighting style and has opted to use it over CQC until the Guns of the Patriots incident.
• Close Quarters Combat: Close Quarters Combat (CQC) was a system of combined combat techniques which allowed rapid alternation between armed and hand-to-hand combat while engaging enemy personnel. Solid Snake was also taught CQC extensively by Big Boss in the 1990s. However, after the latter betrayed FOXHOUND in Outer Heaven in 1995, Snake vowed to never again use that part of his extensive training (although he would later admit that it was far advanced for its time, a few special forces groups were using it at that point). Sometime before the events of the Guns of the Patriots Incident in 2014, the Patriots declassified highly sensitive documents regarding the events of Operation Snake Eater. Thus, Big Boss's popularity grew once again, prompting worldwide knowledge of CQC. It was at this point that Old Snake (Solid Snake) decided to lift his own ban on CQC, and began to use the fighting style once again. On the battlefield, Snake showed the extent of this incredible combat system while engaging Liquid Ocelot's PMC soldiers, showing how CQC could be used on the open battlefield and within close-quarters environments. Talking to Otacon in the Middle East, Snake called the enemies' version of CQC a "cookie cutter imitation" since he had learned directly from Big Boss himself, while they had only read about it from books. The PMC soldiers had no real training in CQC and only chose to use it because of its popularity. Snake mentioned to Otacon that whenever he saw this imitation his body would instinctively react and use the original style, to quickly outmaneuver and outclass the imitation one. However, Snake was still bested by Liquid Ocelot in CQC when they met in Eastern Europe. It is unknown if Liquid Ocelot's skills were developed from Ocelot's own CQC skills from observing Naked Snake (Big Boss) during Operation Snake Eater. When Snake and Liquid Ocelot battled for the final time atop Outer Haven, they incorporated CQC into their brutal fist fight, though without the weapons that were best suited for CQC. This time it was Snake who bested Ocelot in CQC.

Intelligence: Extraordinary Genius (Carries the genes of Big Boss with genes being an important part of what makes a skilled solider and has an IQ of 180. Big Boss is also known as "the Greatest Warrior of the 20th Century". As a teenager he was able to infiltrate Western Iraq with a platoon of Green Berets. Was known in the Green Berets for his skills as a paratrooper, scuba diver, and free climber. Snake was a member of FOXHOUND, which is known as the world's most advanced black ops unit and during his time there he mastered various skills including various paratrooper techniques, underwater invasion techniques, on ground sneaking techniques, jungle and desert survival, tailing, detonating, wireless communication, seizing and reusing enemy weaponry, information collecting, various martial arts techniques, emergency medical operations, linguistics and technology, and generally anything need for high tech special forces units. Snake is fluent in six different languages. As a full on newbie rookie Snake infiltrated the entire base "Outer Heaven" filled with trained soldiers and combat experts, while he unknowingly went into a base run by his own boss running the mission who purposefully put a rookie on this mission just cause he thought Snake would fail, purposefully sabotaging his mission and giving away Snake's position during this mission, yet Snake still managed to infiltrate this base. Snake is skilled with using objects such as cardboard boxes to stay completely hidden from enemies. It's described by Liquid Snake posing as Master Miller that Snake is "getting the maximum use out of ordinary on hand objects". Snake notes the way one uses a cardboard box hinges on the very success of a mission. Along with this he was able to disguise himself as a Outer Heaven solider and as a Bucket. Defeated Shotmaker and Machinegun kid in a shoot out with both of them being skilled with their respective weapons. Able to take down two tanks and two helicopters. Able to accurately shoot and hit Dirty Duck without hitting any POWs. Defeated Venom Snake in a missile fight despite being injured before the fight. Venom Snake was stated to be mentally comparable to Big Boss and has the same skills as him. In a battle where he dealt with an opponent far faster then him, he used their speed against them. Defeated the Four Horsemen, who specialize in confined spaces and are a top-secret assassination squad who get their orders directly from the president. Defeated Jungle Evil in his own habitat, where he is the undisputed master of jungle ambushes. Defeated one of the last surviving members of the Whispers, a legendary guerilla unit, Night Fright, where in the fight he needed to use his ear, meaning his hearing is good enough to where he can gather enough information about his opponent's movements to be able to fight him, and he's smart enough to know how to coordinate his attacks and interpret the sound information into his spatial reasoning. Along with this he can avoid bullets from Night Fright, when he wields a completely silent gun. It's also noted that no one has ever seen Night Fright's face, meaning Snake is the only soldier that survived combat with him. Defeated Gray Fox in hand to hand combat. Fought off dozens of guards while waiting for his rescue copter. Defeated Metal Gear D with just grenades. Defeated Big Boss with just a lighter and a can of hair spray. Stated to be an expert in unarmed Close Quarters Battle. Is a skilled dog musher who's able take care of fifty huskies. Injected with nootropics, a class of drugs that improve mental functioning, effectively making him smarter. Is able to easily identify weapons just by looking at them. Can sneak around the entirety of Shadow Moses without getting caught, where the genome soldiers have a highly developed senses of hearing and vision due to their gene therapy. Can out skill Next Generation Special Forces who are all geniuses with an IQ over 180, and carry the genes of Big Boss. Can fight Next Generation Special Forces, who have been strengthened through gene therapy. From a single glance, he could tell that Meryl was a rookie. Along with Meryl he was able to take out various armed Genome Soldiers in a shoot out. Defeated Revolver Ocelot, in a gun duel. Fought a fully armored tank with just grenades on foot, which was considered impossible by an active-duty Army officer to be completely impossible for a single infantryman to do. Vulcan Raven notes to Liquid Snake to not underestimate Snake and describes Snake as if he is possessed by a demon in battle. Snake is so skilled at hand-to-hand combat that Gray Fox views using his weapon as useless in comparison to facing Snake in hand to hand combat. Defeated Cyborg Gray Fox who has been enhanced by gene therapy and strengthened by his exoskeleton suit. Snake's DNA was seen as a necessity to fix the Genome Soldier's mutations. Fought many armed soldiers while climbing up a several dozen flights of stairs. Can rappel down a building while being shot at by a Hind. Can single-handedly take down a Hind being piloted by Liquid Snake who was able to take down F-16s with it. Could take out 4 people inside of a small elevator who were all invisible and armed. Fought Sniper Wolf in a sniper battle through a blizzard storm. Can take out armed soldiers who tried to ambush him. Could stealth against Vulcan Raven for a majority of his boss fight and place around secret mine locations to defeat him. Vulcan Raven has better vison than the Genome Soldiers. Can single-handedly take down Metal Gear REX. Comparable to Liquid Snake who has also an IQ of 180. Defeated Liquid Snake in a one on one hand to hand duel despite the fact that Liquid Snake was the superior clone of Big Boss. Took on various Genomes Soldiers and Liquid Snake in a car shoot out without his gear from before. Can identify a helicopter just by hearing the sound it makes and can identify vehicles just by looking at them. Avoided a technique from Olga that she noted no one has ever dodged. Fought and defeated Olga in a gun fight where he was limited to just a Modified Beretta M92F tranquilizer that can only shoot once before reloading while Olga was equipped with a UCP. Snuck around hundreds of armed and trained soldiers. By the time of the Big Shell Incident Solid Snake was considered to be the greatest solider in history by The Patriots one of the most powerful organizations in the world. Can disguise himself to look a Navy Seals member named named Iroquois Pliskin, at this point in time Snake was already a famous with books even being made about his missions. Raiden, someone who views Solid Snake as a legend thought Pliskin was actual identity. Is a skilled sniper who aided Raiden in clearing out a path of soldiers and Cyphers so that Emma can get across safely. Along with Raiden he was able to gun down many Tengu Soldiers. Can disguise himself as a rebel solider and can disguise himself as a Drum. Snake pulled off all of these feats without using his close quarters combat experience due to never feeling right using a technique taught to him by a man who betrayed his unit. Considers the CQC that soldiers use a pale/cookie cutter imitation, to the point that his body reacts naturally to it. Able easily take out Johnny with his CQC skills despite the fact Johnny was pointing a gun at him. Along with the other members of Rat Patrol Team 01 he can defeat the Frogs, Liquid Ocelot's private army in a shoot out. Can shoot down Gekkos while on a moving vehicle. Can disguise himself as a civilian and not be recognized by PMC Soldiers despite being added to the PMC's blacklist. Able to trail a member of The Paradise Lost Army without getting caught, avoiding multiple patrolling PMC soldiers during the city's curfew. Defeated multiple armed members of The Paradise Lost Army with his CQC skills. Fought Crying Wolf in a sniper battle through a blizzard storm while being hunted by Frogs. Can take down a hoard of Geckos by himself. Defeat Liquid Ocelot in a Metal Gear battle without any prior experience were Snake had to use an old and damaged Metal Gear REX while Liquid Ocelot was using a brand new Metal Gear RAY, a Metal Gear designed to defeat Metal Gears like Rex. Liquid Ocelot also had experience with using a Metal Gear Ray beforehand. Able to sneak around Outer Haven without getting caught while many of Frogs were looking for him and Meryl. Went from being skill-stomped by Ocelot to being able to contend with him and eventually defeat him. Raiden a very skilled solider himself states that in terms of pure combat ability, Snake is one of the greatest soldiers he's ever seen)
