Counter
From The Codex
Background
Counter is the explicit ability to counter and transfer something over. This can vary depending on the context, in some cases it can be an opponents attack where the user redirects it away from themself or sends it back at the opponent. It could also be utilizing momentum to turn an opponents momentum against themself, reflecting damage taken back onto an opponent, etcetera.
Applications
- Attack Reflection: Attack Reflection is the explicit ability to turn the opponent(s) attacks against them. Attack Reflection is a pretty powerful ability, able to offend and defend simultaneously by effectively turning its efforts against the opponent. Some common limitations include only working on attacks of a certain type of power, a longer preparation time or a specific user requirement.
- Users: Kirby (Kirby), Ness (Super Smash Bros.), Arwing (Star Fox)
- Momentum Reflection: The user redirects one's momentum against them, an example of this is a fighter using the momentum of a characters attack and using it against them, essentially ignoring conventional Attack Potency and Durability to allow them to harm stronger opponents.
- Users: Maki Aikawa (Air Master)
- Damage Transferal: Damage Transferal is the ability to reproduce the injuries that an individual has suffered on his opponent or other individuals. The damage that the user shares with the targeted individual may be physical, mental, spiritual or supernatural, or a combination thereof. The transfer of wounds does not necessarily remove the wounds of the afflicted user, though this varies on the user.
- Users: Mera Salamin (Epithet Erased)
Limitations
- The counter can be heavily geared towards how skilled the user is, with more skilled opponents being able to get around it.
- The method of redirection or reflection and it's potency varies on the user, as some may be physical while others may be supernatural.
