Background

I Wanna Be The Guy (commonly abbreviated as IWBTG, and, as shown on the title screen, is also known as I Wanna Be The Guy: The Movie: The Game) is a game that can be downloaded for a PC. I Wanna Be The Guy is made by Michael "Kayin" O'Reilly using Multimedia Fusion 2. It is known for being incredibly difficult, as well as being a parody of many other classic games such as "Super Mario Bros. 2", "The Legend of Zelda", "Metroid" etcetera.

The main character, "The Kid" sets out on an adventure to become "The Guy," and avenge the murder of his Grandfather who was once The Guy, by collecting the "Eight Units." These units appear after beating the first six bosses of the varying Worlds of the game. After beating the first six bosses, The Kid then goes to The Dungeon of Doom, to fight The Guy himself, who reveals to The Kid that he is his father. The Kid then defeats him, and becomes The Guy.

Power of the Verse

While the main character, The Kid, is physically extremely weak, being Below Average Human level with virtually everything that touches him killing him, his weapon and other characters in the verse in general are actually very powerful, reaching Star level power, along with this the verse is fast, reaching Faster Than Light speeds, along with some decent abilities such as, Save and Load, Teleportation, Ice Manipulation, Fire Manipulation, etcetera.

  • The Guy: The Guy is a position of power in the game, I Wanna Be The Guy. The plot to the game is central around The kid's efforts to become The Guy. To become the Guy, the one who seeks the position must kill the current the Guy, or die trying. Eventually, as shown in the game, there was a chosen one who became the Guy, but then his son killed him to become the Guy. This has seemingly continued through that family for many generations, as it is stated that The Father killed Former Grandfather The Guy, and then The Kid killed the Father. The Guy lives in The Dungeon of Doom, a trap filled castle, also known as the castle of The Guy. Inside the Dungeon of Doom there is a hall, called the Hall of Former The Guys, which shows portraits of all former The Guys.

Verse Scaling

All the big bosses in the verse can survive hits from The Kid's gun, which can harm Mike Tyson, who caused a star to fall and break. Thus any boss that can take hits from The Kid should be Star level. Anyone that can tag the Kid should also be Faster Than Light as The Kid can dodge lasers.
