Pressure Manipulation

From The Codex
Revision as of 22:16, 28 December 2024 by GiverOfThePeace (talk | contribs)

Background

Pressure Manipulation is the ability to create, shape, and control pressure—the force applied perpendicular to the surface of an object per unit area. Users of this power can perform various feats, such as moving objects over a distance through controlled pressure, strengthening gravitational pull, or pseudo-solidifying non-solid objects by generating a repulsive pressure field around them. This ability can also be used to crush material targets, reduce friction between objects, manipulate air pressure to suffocate opponents, or deliver attacks that bypass conventional durability.

Also Called

  • Force Manipulation
  • Pressure Control

Possible Applications

  • Telekinesis: Manipulating pressure to move objects over a distance.
  • Gravity Manipulation: Amplifying gravitational pull using controlled pressure.
  • Pseudo-Solidification: Generating a pressure field to give non-solid objects solid-like properties.
  • Physics Manipulation: Reducing friction between objects or surfaces through pressure control.
  • Air Manipulation: Altering air pressure to prevent breathing or launch air-based attacks.
  • Durability Bypassing Attacks: Using pressure to harm targets in ways that bypass conventional durability.

Types

  • Localized Pressure Control: Manipulating pressure in a specific area or on a single target.
  • Wide-Area Pressure Control: Controlling pressure across a broad area, such as creating a vacuum or pressurizing a large space.
  • Internal Pressure Control: Adjusting pressure within objects or living beings, causing internal damage or collapse.

Limitations

  • Energy Consumption: Requiring significant energy to manipulate pressure over a large area or for extended periods.
  • Environmental Dependency: Limited by the availability of a medium (e.g., air, liquid) to apply pressure.
  • Collateral Damage: Risk of unintended harm to surroundings or allies when generating extreme pressure.
  • Precision Issues: Difficulty controlling pressure with fine precision, potentially leading to unintended effects.
