Patroklos is the son of the holy warrior, Sophitia Alexandra, and her blacksmith husband, Rothion. Along with his older sister, Pyrrha, Patroklos lived a few short years of happiness in his family home until a strange customer arrived at Rothion's shop. This strange customer presented Rothion with a mysterious metallic shard, secretly being a fragment of Soul Edge, which turned the Alexander family upside-down.
Both Patroklos and Pyrrha fought violently over the cursed fragment, which Sophitia had trouble stopping due to the wounds she had sustained after her quest to destroy Soul Edge. As time went on, eventually a young woman clad in green would appear to the family, eerily claiming that she would return when the time was right. This woman was Tira, a devote follower of the cursed sword, and Sophitia recognized her evil immediately.
Years passed, and eventually Pyrrha found herself unable to live without Soul Edge's influence. With Sophitia meeting her tragic hand in her attempt to rid her household of Malfestation and Soul Edge's influence, Tira was given free reign to invade the Alexander home and abduct Pyrrha. For the next many years, Patroklos was left alone with his father, who was dying of sickness.
Knowing that both his sister and mother were lost to the Malfested, Patroklos developed a strong hatred for them, and thus focused his entire childhood into practicing swordplay. Eventually, he was able to win a sword-fighting tournament at only 15 years old, though he still didn't feel powerful enough. Not long after, Patroklos found himself at a bazaar in Istanbul, where he met a wandering swordswoman named Setsuka.
Although the forms of Battōjutsu and Iaido were foreign to Patroklos, he begged Setsuka to train him nonetheless. Under her tutelage, Patroklos grew in skill far faster than any student had grown ever before, though Setsuka never appeared impressed. With realization that Patroklos was training for a lust of revenge, Setsuka grew increasingly weary of training him. However, Patroklos mastered this fighting style nonetheless.
Once he reached 19 years of age, Patroklos and Setsuka has long-since parted ways, and his fighting style slowly turned back into a pale imitation of his mother's sword/shield ways. He found himself under the employ of a conniving man named Dumas, the Graf of Hungary, who was hiring soldiers to hunt down Malfested. Out of his immense hatred for the Malfested, Patroklos slayed any and all creatures Dumas told him to slay, without question.
However, as time went on, cracks began to form in Graf Dumas's demeanor, and eventually Patroklos lost all trust in him after meeting a werewolf named Z.W.E.I. Patroklos rebelled against the Graf, stating that he would face the Malfested and search for his abducted sister on his own. That is when, out of retaliation, Dumas revealed that the Malfested he sent Patroklos to slay, were actually innocent men.
Horribly regretful for what he had done, but steely in his resolve to save his sister, Patroklos fought of Graf Dumas's underlings and escaped back to Z.W.E.I. The werewolf, happy with the choice Patroklos made, brought him to a man named Siegfried Schtauffen, leader of the Schwarzwind mercenaries. Siegfried stated that he had a lead on the woman who abducted Pyrrha, but asked that Patroklos first prove himself.
After a short battle, Siegfried was immensely impressed by Patroklos's skills. He presented to the boy a bright blue blade, the holy sword Soul Calibur, which he believed had been calling for Patroklos to wield. Patroklos gladly took up the sword once he realized that it would help him defeat Pyrrha's abductor, and so set out to look for her alongside Z.W.E.I. and a young seer named Viola.
From several miles away, Pyrrha was being instructed by Tira to kill dozens of soldiers out of a perceived sense of self-defense. The stress accumulated from all the murder was too much for Pyrrha to bear, and she collapsed. Unbeknownst to her, as she slept, her long-lost brother Patroklos appeared and fought Tira off. When Pyrrha awoke, she was in the arms of her brother.
Patroklos, relieved to be in the presence of a family he thought lost to time forever, said his goodbyes to Z.W.E.I and Viola, and began to take Pyrrha to their family home. The two encountered loads of trouble on their journey, but were okay so long as they could fight side-by-side. That was, until they arrived in a small port city, which they found engulfed in flames. Before them stood the Azure Knight, Nightmare, wielding Soul Edge.
In the presence of Soul Edge, and in an effort to defend her brother, a cursed power from within Pyrrha awoke, and she became a Malfested. Empowered by the Malfestation, Pyrrha fought off Nightmare and saved Patroklos. However, because of her transformation, Patroklos was conflicted and felt as though he could no longer accept his sister's existence. He ran away in fear, back into the safety of Siegfried's camp.
Back in the presence of Siegfried and Z.W.E.I., Patroklos immediately relayed to them his dismay by the revelation that Graf Dumas was Nightmare, and that Pyrrha was Malfested. Overwhelmed by conflicting feelings, Patroklos was unstable and thus deemed by Siegfried unworthy of wielding the Soul Calibur. He offered Patroklos one last chance to prove himself in battle, facing the Soul Calibur's alternative host, Z.W.E.I.
As the battle commenced, Patroklos noticed that the Soul Calibur changed its form once again. It now resembled an Iai Blade, the very same that he was taught to wield from his master, Setsuka. With Patroklos's mind focused and fully understanding his goals, the Soul Calibur changed into the form of the sword Patroklos was most comfortable with using, instead of the pale imitation of his mother's sword. Siegfried fully entrusted the Soul Calibur with Patroklos, and sent him to deal with Pyrrha.
Far off in the center of a burning town, Pyrrha had become the new host of Soul Edge, and promised that she would collect souls for it so long as it promised to never leave her. But then, Patroklos returned to her, wielding the Soul Calibur; a blessed sword designed specifically to destroy Soul Edge. After apologizing to his sister, Patroklos fought Pyrrha and managed to neutralize her.
However, as he refused to kill her, the Soul Calibur retaliated against him and incased him in a tomb of ice. Within his mind, Patroklos saw a vision of his mother, Sophitia, who Soul Calibur had taken the form of in order to ease his mind. She used sweet motherly words of concern, the way Patroklos always imagined Sophitia would, and yet at the same time she told him to kill his own sister.
Knowing that this was wrong, Patroklos retaliated against the mirage of his mother and prepared for a battle to resist Soul Calibur from possessing him. He was successful, finally saying goodbye to the replica Sophitia in a solemn tone. Suddenly, he woke up, as the ice around him shattered. Pyrrha had saved him, using the power of Soul Edge in order to save his live.
Finally, Patroklos was able to embrace his sister once again. Together, the two used Soul Edge to strike the Soul Calibur, and finally destroy both swords once and for all. At last, the world was freed from their influence, and an era of peace and freedom could finally flourish. Although Patroklos and Pyrrha both needed to atone for the horrible sins they had committed, they decided to first finally return home.
