Background

Noko Shikanoko or Nokotan, is a hybrid of a human and deer, being the founder and mascot of the deer club and best friend of Torako Koshi.

She is the titular character of Shikanoko Nokonoko Koshitantan who makes her debut in "Girl Meets Deer". Taking Torako Koshi's regular life and turning it into a chaotic one.

Personality

Chaotic: Nokotan has an extremely chaotic personality, shifting through personalities in the span of a single conversation. Her chaotic personality is shown even in her actions, where her antlers got her stuck on telephone wires and her noting she has no idea how she got up there, just waking up there. This can also be shown with her response to Koshi Torako helping her down from a telephone wire, having her give her things from deer crackers to both of her horns to even offering to let her eat her. She is also able to bring out objects from nowhere, such as when she suddenly had boxing gloves.

Standard Tactics: As shown with Nokotan's chaotic nature, she is a wild card that will do whatever in a situation without any true logic or reasoning behind it.

Weaknesses: Nokotan has an immense fear of plastic bottles. Nokotan can easily be tricked by placing a deer cracker around, even if it's an obvious trap. Suffers from hay fever. Her antlers can make her get stuck in unorthodox places with her noting she has no idea how she gets stuck in some of these places and that she just wakes up like that. Somewhat sensitive if a friend calls her horns dumb.

Trivia

• Despite being a female deer, Nokotan has antlers, which only male deer can grow.
• Nokotan notes she runs on "deer power", where her being a hybrid human-deer making her the most powerful deer in the world.
• Despite her antlers being strong enough to break through walls, they are able to hang off of spider webs without breaking them, what's doubly strange about this is that Noko is noted to be very heavy.
• Noko's verbal tic reads as "Nroh" in the subtitles, this was translated from Japanese as just "horn" spelled backwards.
• "Shika" means deer in Japanese and paired with "Noko" it means "Deer Person"/"Deer Girl".
• "Nokonoko" means unconcerned.
• While English localized the title to "My Deer Friend Nokotan", the actual literal translation to the title would be: "Deer Girl Doesn't Care as a Cute Baby Tiger Watches Her Intently".
