Supernatural Throwing

From The Codex
Jump to navigationJump to search

King K. Rool is able to throw his crown like a boomerang, something physically impossible to do.

Background

Supernatural Throwing is the ability to hurl objects or weapons with precision, force, or trajectories far beyond what is naturally possible. This includes throwing at speeds that break physical limits, manipulating the paths of thrown items mid-flight, or targeting with unfailing accuracy even around corners or obstacles. It is often treated as a subset of Vector Manipulation, as it typically involves controlling the direction and velocity of a projectile in ways that defy conventional physics.

This ability may manifest through innate power, supernatural skill, magic, or enhanced physical prowess. Characters with this ability can weaponize everyday objects, curve trajectories around barriers, or deliver throws with pinpoint control that rivals even guided projectiles.

Also Called

  • Impossible Trajectory Throwing
  • Vector-Based Throwing
  • Curved Projectile Manipulation
  • Supernatural Projectile Hurling

Possible Applications

  • Throwing objects with supernatural speed or strength
  • Causing thrown items to arc, hover, or change direction mid-air
  • Hitting moving targets with unerring precision
  • Deflecting or redirecting other projectiles with thrown objects
  • Striking enemies hidden behind cover by curving the trajectory
  • Throwing objects with enough force to cause massive destruction

Practical Uses

  • Fighting at range while maintaining melee-level lethality
  • Performing stealth attacks from unconventional angles
  • Neutralizing distant or hidden opponents with precision throws
  • Using common objects as deadly improvised weapons
  • Turning the battlefield environment (rocks, debris, tools) into reliable ammunition

Variations

  • Homing Throw: Thrown objects that automatically adjust their path to follow the target.
  • Curved Throw: Throws that bend around obstacles or follow unnatural paths.
  • Charged Throw: Thrown objects that are imbued with extra kinetic energy or elemental force.
  • Multi-Vector Throwing: Thrusting several objects simultaneously in different impossible trajectories.

Possible Limitations

  • Might require a clear line of sight to manipulate trajectory
  • Limited by the weight or nature of the object being thrown
  • May not work against targets protected by force fields or deflection barriers
  • Effectiveness may diminish over long distances
  • Some users may only control the path at the start, not mid-flight
  • Certain materials (e.g., antimagic substances) may be immune to manipulation
